Yes.  I do have the XBOX app and I still got the same results.  I have Windows 11 and I'm not going to format my drives at this point.  Everything is working great, especially P3d v5.2.  MSFS causing this issue for me is making me think the STORE is the problem for reinstallation.  Tomorrow I'll try again, and if unsuccessful will resort to reinstalling and "re-buying" the product from another source.

I have to believe you have done this, but have read through this topic once again and do not see a definitive confirmation that you have done so.  After the recent WU I, along with quite a number of others, had an issue much like what you have been describing.  I was logging into the xBox and MS Store web sites and finding no joy.  Finally, watching the developing topics here and at the official MSFS site, I installed both the xBox and MS Store Windows apps.  Not the same as the respective web sites.  Where I finally found the  updates was after signing into the MS Store Windows app from the Windows Start menu.  Once logged in there, clicking the Get Updates drop down in the upper right corner finally displayed the MSFS update.

I should have transcribed some notes as I, like others, went through a few hours of total frustration and should have made precise notes for later repeatability.  I am remiss this evening that I did not do so.  I do know that I logged into both xBox and MS Store websites, found no joy, then DL the respective Windows apps and signed into them.  I only know that the MS Store Windows app was the last of those steps.  Then  and only then did I find an MSFS update listed in the dropdown.  The dropdown in the MS Store Windows App.

If I encounter the same difficulty next time I will be moving to a Steam installation.  My only purchased addons have been the Drzewiecki Designs Washington, DC, Landmarks, and the Carenado Mooney M20R, which I have seldom flown.  So if I move to a Steam installation I will not loose much.

Bert,

Thanks. I went through this procedure and although my time and region were already correct, the part of signing out, rebooting, and signing back in seemed to work and directed me to an Xbox installation.
Right now I’m actually downloading 132.47 gigs and I should be here for at least 2 hours. Im a little tired, but what the heck…seems to be on its way. Hopefully it will all come back together. Many world and regional updates after this initial one.
Thanks again to everyone for contributing to this thread. I’ll report the results tomorrow.

Well, MSFS installed last night as well as all the updates.  However, I directed it to an empty M2 SSD (where it was originally), and although the drive shows the proper number of GB from the sim, it is nowhere in sight.  It is not there.  It runs from my Users/name/appdata/local/packages/Microsoft Flight Simulator 8wekg and the community folder is under that at.../local cache/packages/community.

I added a plane to the community folder there and it does not show up in the sim.  I can't even find the REAL community folder that contains all of my planes, etc.

Although the sim runs...it is difficult to enjoy it without access to the Community folder or the questions surrounding why it is not showing up as MSFS on the SSD where I directed it.

CONFUSED.

during installation of MSFS, one can choose to select any other drive/folder. easy to overlook. if you are not careful and just hit OK it will install to that default "Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe" thingamajig.

First thing I did, Bert.  I made sure "hidden folders" was turned off.  Still can't see the MSFS program on its dedicated M2 SSD

I was very careful about this.  I directed it to the correct SSD.  That's why the drive shows the proper GBs downloaded.  It just doesn't show the proper folders or Community folder.

Only thing under that drive icon is:

  • Program Files
  • Window apps
  • WP System

Under Program files is a folder called Modifiable Window Apps

THAT'S IT!

Suggest you use the Addons Linker app.. much easier.
