The best $20 I've ever spent on Flight Simulator

Featured Replies

I just picked up a boxed copy of the Wings of Power WWII Fighters for $20, and its certainly the best value I have ever seen for FS.The aircraft in this pack are extremely high quality for military aircraft, much higher quality than anything I have seen from the other military add on devs. From what I am used to seeing in the way of military aircraft for FS, I was blown away by how good the virtual cockpits and textures are on these aircraft, some of the best I've seen.I find it absolutely amazing that Shockwave is selling five of the highest quality military aircraft out there for less than what the other companies are charging for a single aircraft. Thanks Shockwave!

I'm trying to figure out where you got "Wings of Power ..." I tried Shockwave.com and it appears to be a kids game site. Could you please post the url. Thank you. Steve

http://www.shockwaveproductions.com/store/ I have their "Solo" Spitfire Mk 1 and the Bf109E3 & 4, Steve. Very well-done, 5-star aircraft which work well in FS9 and even better in FS10. Warbirds are not everyone's cup of tea, but these two belong to a unique club of aircraft which have presence and purpose. They are not padded, painted or soundproofed, and they need to be "gentled", if one is to enjoy many successful flights!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169615.jpgLindberg approach! Fun! Great shots.Tail Draggers take a little different technique in FS. Land by the numbers, when rolling out, pull the flaps all the way up, then after the tail settles, heavy back elevator to slow the aircraft. Hopefully you have room to stop without using the brakes. These birds will flip onto the nose and crash if you use heavy brakes. But they are a true joy to fly.

. . . you've NEVER done that, have you Reg?:-lol:-lol:-lol:-lol:-lol:-lol:-lol;-)

Paul, is that Flight Scenery Portland, if it is, can you confirm it works in FSX?Thanks,Jeff

Yeah, Jeff: it works - but I've seen a couple of texture problems, though. 1). Almost all of the square/oblong factory-type buildings are black boxes. 2). It will create extra shorelines around Seattle. 3). Some of the trees are also black. I haven't seen any other issues, and the scenery/airports are quite useable. You don't really notice the buildings so much, but the shorelines around Seattle are a pain, as that's my major base. To pull it into FSX I went to Settings -> Add, and then browsed to the FS9 folder and added FZ02 and FZ02 LC. There was no actual install done, and I didn't move them down. I may try this later.

Looks like its $30 plus shipping from thier site. I got mine for $20 at Software Etc in the mall, which also goes by the name Babbage's, and Gamestop. So if you have any of those in your city they may have the package for the $20 price.
