Review especially about the new L-39s?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I would be very interested to read or see some opinions about the new Reno L-39 especially!

Is the FM kind of realistic? Any errors like EGT overheat?

What do they have for a different VC?

many thanks!

Been playing it since yesterday and actually the L-39 races became my prefrered 🙂

I didn't fly the aircraft outside of Reno much, but I did tst the P51D a bit - it still has it's quirks but it's overall very acceptable, specially after I found out SU7 install had reverted my assistance options to EASY mode. After getting it back to TRUE LIFE it feels a lot better.

I had the L39 in XP11 and in DCS. It feels ok to me at least in the races.

What I miss for the Reno Air Races is engine damage.

Lik in FSX, MSFS2020 engines are made of kryptonite and doesn´t get damaged by overpowering them.

You can simply firewall the throttle and go on forever.

I think Races would be much more interesting if You have to pull back on power to keep the engine sound and have engine management as part of the challenge too.

Does anyone know how repaints for L39s will work?

For example if we buy one plane ($10) vs the entire package ($30) will we still be able to use 3rd party repaints with it?

Thanks,

Steve

Sadly the P51's models need allot to be desired in some areas (cockpit switches not working correctly, ground breaking not strong enough, flap lift/drag could be better, and nose bouncing which actually might be ok seeing you have to constantly use the trim wheel for best results).  I hate there's no ability to open the canopy.  The other plane sets seem better but haven't fully tested yet.  One thing of note is each bird seems to has it's own flight characteristics so maybe the P51's I've flown so far aren't what I personally would like.  Here's some honorable mentions, still testing:

1. 38

2. Voodoo

3. Wee Willey
