The MDLX crashes were fixed a couple patches ago.

Aside that this is not true, the compatibility is very limited and limiting.

But fact is that besides compatibility, there are several non-exclusive conditions to a claim of fair use, and this satisfies multiple.

Not that I think it'd ever get to that because I seriously doubt anyone would care to go to court over this, but when one claims legal reasons, it's a good idea to look at the whole doctrine, and not just the part that supports said claims.

I understand, I think, why Kaii sees this as a threat to his program but it seems many just want to see it fail and I’m curious why?

Kaii never called it a threat.

No. But I'm fairly sure that's not needed for everyone to see that.

Except Kai said the opposite? More options the better.

The only thing being argued here is the rights to use specific models.

One can say something and mean another. One who wishes no ill on something doesn't usually spend a whole day trying to pin negativity on it on multiple forums.

But all Kai is arguing is the model rights, nothing else. It's not negative, it's just trying to stop trouble from happening in the future.

Yes, thank you.

These projects are not in competition with each other, the issue is the rights to use, modify and redistribute certain models.

so basically we are now back to assumptions... something the Moderator here said we should avoid.

The whole puropse of the initial post was to point out, that there are still some open questions about the content of the package and that the Post on Discord seems to cause a dejavu. We all know how this has ended at the beginning of the year and it seems not much has changed since then....

"it's illegal!" is quite negative, without talking about the many further posts that basically equate to FUD.

But again, what trouble? If FAIB sees this as trouble, he'll talk to FSLTL, and they'll sort it out, one way or another. Even in the worst case scenario, the only ones who would be potentially "troubled" are FSLTL themselves. Let em deal with it.

Both of these projects are freeware, so they're not in competition with each other.

I really wish this was the actual view expressed here. Unfortunately, considering this and several precedents, it's obvious that some see other freeware products as competition that requires a hostile response.

What precedents? There are no precedents. It has always been about model rights. You're seeing things that aren't there.

There are plenty of precedents in which individuals involved here have taken a hostile stance toward other freeware developers that they saw as competition. I've indeed seen things. We all have.

Now you're just making stuff up, I'm done here.

Am I making up the events that led to the closure of FLAi?

Be nice if they were just a bad dream.

Yes there's a whole other thread for discussion about the other package. None of us are surprised by the responses and tone so we're happy to move along.
