December 12, 20214 yr I have been using the GNS 430 plugin for a while and it works great. I have an updated worldwide.bin file that it's been using with no problems. But I just downloaded the 530 because a couple aircraft I use didn't have a 430 in their panel, and now suddenly both of the units (430 and 530) are back to some 2016 database. I verified my original .bin file is still in place in the Garmin trainer directory. Anyone have any ideas? Please help! 😃 I absolutely "need" the updated database since I routinely run practice instrument approaches in my local area. Thanks.

X:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\GNS Trainer\GNS\db Thanks for the reply. I definitely have it in the right directory. The database I had installed was a 2021 database. I went back and got the original file I used before and re-copied it into the same folder and nothing changed. The only thing I can think of is that when I ran the install on the new RXP 530 purchase, it changed the folder that it looks in for the database. But I, for the life of me, can't figure out how RXP works - much less how to look to see what/where it installed anything. I'm unfortuantely lost at the moment... Wish I'd never purchased the 530 now.
December 12, 20214 yr Just now, CerroTorre said: But I, for the life of me, can't figure out how RXP works You have two working elements, not one. You have the RXP, and you have the separate Garmin Trainer. You may at this time be best served to fully remove both, download the current version from the RXP product page, and reinstall. It will push you through the Flight1 ecommerce process for validation, and will install and position the Garmin Trainer. As another user with several years of experience I highly recommend you accept the default install locations. December 12, 20214 yr Author Copy, I'll try that. Do you have a recommendation for the cleanest uninstall? It seems like RXP is now sort of all over the place and it isn't a matter of just deleting a directory. I'm not a complete computer word not allowed ... but at the moment feeling close... Thanks

Thanks Look in all drives in Program FIles, Program Files (86), and Program Data. Look for both Reality XP and Garmin folders. If you have both RXP GNS and GTN installations then you should wait for guidance here from RXP. I deem our discussion to be about only GNS. Also be aware that if you clear out all traces you will likely lose any flight plans and user waypoints you may have saved for the RXP GNS. I'm not worried about any lost flight plans. I just want to database back to current. No GTN models from RXP. I guess that also means delete rxpGNS folder in the XPlane plugins directory?
December 12, 20214 yr Oh! xPlane! I am not an xPlane user. I recommend waiting for RXP to respond! December 12, 20214 yr Author No worries thanks for your help. RXP please reply asap. I'm now completely dead in the water. I have a proof of purchase for both products but neither is working.
December 15, 20214 yr Hi, I'm sorry for the delay. Just run the installer and uncheck the option to install the 2015 or 2016 database... this way your own database will be used. This is explained in the latest update release notes... https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/534858-12aug21-rxp-gns-530w430w-v2-x-plane-v24216-released/ On 4/9/2018 at 3:32 PM, RXP said: The installer can configure the GTN Trainer 6.11 Worldwide Aviation Database AIRAC 1607 (compatible with the GNS Trainer 3.30).When you select this option, the installer will set the GNSADBFILE environment variable (see user's manual for more details). NB: The GTN Trainer 6.11 is no longer available for download and these files are included by courtesy. More details in: "C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\Common\GnsTrainer\dbfiles\readme.txt" NB: the latest GNS V2 for Fltsim update is now providing 2 db to choose from and a more robust handling in the installer code. I'm waiting for a little more feedback from Fltsim version users prior pushing the same changes to the XPlane version installer. More infos in the Fltsim release notes here... This is indeed because the latest RXP GNS installer defaults to changing your DB location. If the reinstall does not solve it, you can manually remove the Environment Variable.. Bert
