The GTN 750 is a navigational mess compared to the G1000 NXi.  That is, if you're looking for realistic navigation like me.  It works fine for A to B flying with no approaches.

I think I just cofirmed that trying to set up an ILS approach on RNWY 34 at KPVD in Rhode Island. Thanfully I don't have long finger nails as I was doing a lot of head scratching. I think its good for eyballing OBS landings.

Now if you use the TDS GTNxi it's a totally different matter.  It's very good - based on the trainer.  But you'll need a second monitor or tablet or hardware panel preferably.

I'll have to do that a little later and see what pops up for the approach.

I am using the default G1000 stock with the install. I have never used the NXI. Do I need the NXI?

1. Flight plan does not load from the planner in MSFS it shows in the FPL but no magenta line

2. If I try to go direct without loading a plan the magenta line is there but NAV will no engage

I will get screen shots. Thanks

Why would you use a Garmin where things don't work correctly , features are missing, when you could use a much improved version and it's free?

I just installed the NXI and it worked. The videos I saw on the plane no one mentioned the NXI.

I think I found the issue going into RNY 34 at LPVD with the GNS 530 and GTN 750. The RNW ILS-34 is not approved for GPS landings so you have to select vectors or a transition PVD that is at the airport. The GNS530 and the GTN750 don't have the option for vectors so the PVD transition is all you get. THE G1000NXI has the option to select vectors and do something sensible.

So all you get with loading an approach via a GPS on a ILS runway is guidance to the runway; but with vectors, its still guidance but better more sensible guidance and let you activate the localizer at a sensible spot. It also gives you the desired altitudes for the made up custom waypoints it creates. The you have to use the last custom WP it creates as the faf because that is all you get.

So this is something new I just learned.

The GNS750 really works great in the Kodiac.

And the G1000 NXI works better.

I think its wonky in a few ways compared to the NXI. Search the forums you'll come across threads complaining about it.

The default G1000 will soon be replaced by the NXI by Asobo.

In short, yes. If you are going to use a G1000 I fail to understand any reluctance to use the G1000NXi. It is essentially the same as the stock G1000 you are using, except it works 100 times better, offers some really nice features like the ability to type in flight plan waypoints using your keyboard, and is free in the MarketPlace. I can't think of any reason to stay with the stock G1000 over the G1000NXi.

If you decide to try the G1000NXi, make sure you don't have any G1000 mods in the Community folder.

Good luck!
