Please help. Latest update freezes at 63% :(

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. After a flawless existence with MSFS since I got it I've hit my first roadblock.

The latest update process stops at 63% and it will stay like that indefinitely 😢

Latest Win10 updates installed & Community folder is empty. I am on Steam.

Would be grateful for any advice, thanks!!

Assuming you have already tried killing it, restarting your computer, and trying again... Next step would be to kill it, locate your "Official" folder and delete the "asobo-vcockpits-instruments-wasm" folder and its contents. This will force the installation manager to re-download that folder.

Will give that a whirl as soon as I get home, thanks!

This.

And make sure your community folder is empty.

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

Also look for any "part" files in the same folder (Official\OneStore) and delete them if found.

Not required.

In my experience it is required and recommended if you use FBW A32NX.

Still not required unless you experience issues AFTER the update.

Thank you all for your responses. Unfortunately they did not work, I must have really messed something else up somewhere!

After a couple of more tries with no luck I had to resort to the nuclear option.

  1. Deleted the game completely.
  2. Removed every last mention of it from Appdata etc. I used an Uninstaller that took care of registry entries.
  3. Ran Windows Update
  4. Downloaded the game again. All good now.

I hope this is a one-time thing as of course I cant do this each time a download freezes. The next big one is on Jan 31, Im already worried.

I'm grateful for unlimited cable internet if I HAVE to download the entire thing again.

This time, this happened to me as well, although I was able to recover with deleting the "part" file and trying again.

I do believe this is a random thing, so next time may well be smooth sailing. 😉

As others have mentioned, the MS Store / XBox does not appear to have a properly implemented restart capability, once a download gets stuck in a loop.  Surprising, since MS knows how to update Windows installs all over the world, all the time.
