Questions and voting for questions open for January Q&A

Featured Replies

So instead of griping here in Avsim where Microsoft & Asobo will probably never read your gripes, you can now post questions, and upvote questions for the next Twitch Q&A.  If your question is voted high enough, it will probably be asked by Jane and Microsoft & Asobo will be forced to answer your question at the Twitch Q&A (with Jorg representing Microsoft).  I believe that it was Jorg or Seb who mentioned they do read the upvoted questions from time to time, so even if Jane doesn't mention the details of your question, the details of your question may be read by Microsoft & Asobo before the Twitch Q&A.

You can ask questions for the Twitch Q&A and vote on questions here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/c/community/dev-q-a-open-for-questions/304

According to my impression, the number of issues MS Store users are facing are stacking up right now, and not only after the latest hotfix. I decided to make a question to this effect

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/can-the-msfs-development-team-look-into-ms-store-installation-issues/490240

Feel free to vote if you see this as an issue as well, or disregard, if you don't.

Kind regards Michael

I've voted Michael, you raise very good points.

They love a voting system over there don't they!

The issue I have with these Q&As is when the Devs don't really understand the question fully (language barrier half the time) so you can't respond to what they say, they act all confused and reply with something that has nothing to do with the actual question at hand. If they could incorporate a better way to reply to their answer then maybe we'd get a better response. Case in point being the now fabled "What Lightning in Clear Skies Bug?!" - if they even read the Chat in the Stream at the time they would've seen what we were banging on about, instead they all look bemused. The Chat rolls through far too quickly for any meaningful response, so a better system would be good to make the Questions stand out better

Unfortunately we had such cases. Cases where Jayne didn't get the question or Jörg & Co. didn't get it. But better trying than not.

Kind regards, Michael

This is not a language barrier.

First, they obviously don’t take the time to play their sim or many of the bugs we see would have been long squashed. Or, at least, they would understand the questions 😆.

But the main thing is that they just don't prepare the show. As for many things in this sim, there is an amateurish approach which is bemusing in a shop like Microsoft.

They should be briefed on the questions in advance and, if they don’t have time enough to work on them, have a collaborator prepare some elements of an answer.

I have voted for four threads, I guess, weather, blackshark.ai, our friend noook’s, and update process/regression. No illusion. This a PR show...

This! Exactly this!! With bells on!!!👍

They seem to lack anyone on their team who is a flight simmer, or understands how their customers actually use their creation.

The amateurish approach is there for all to see; the inexplicable own goals like releasing updates with major, obvious  flaws - usually as a holiday period is about to start - the byzantine update system or the disaster that is the store.

Will any of this change?

To be fair, Jorg is reading the chat to look at responses, when Seb or Martial are answering the question. And I think it was Jorg or Seb in the past who said they do review the Twitch chat after the Twitch Q&A ends.

I agree that they could be better prepared.  But at the same time, they have a lot of tasks on their plate so that probably cuts into their preparation time. Having said that, I find that they are aware of all the major issues in MSFS, but there are a few select issues which they may miss sometimes, or there is a language barrier sometimes, but those issues are very few.

However, while Microsoft & Asobo can improve, I'm not complaining.  Lockheed Martin doesn't talk to their home market users at all.  Home users of P3D get whatever table scraps LM feeds them, and LM has zero communication with home users of P3D (of course, P3D was never meant for the home market).  And I don't see Laminar Research doing a monthly live Q&A with their users for X-Plane.  If you compare the communication of MSFS to P3D, and even to XP, I think the communication of MSFS to its users is simply better.
