Looks like RAM makes a huge difference in MSFS

Featured Replies

Using DDR4 3200 CL22, they got an average of 81.58 FPS. But upgrading that to DDR4 3600 CL16 gives 95.77 FPS! I didn't realise that would make such a huge difference.

At 1080P. Now try it at 1440P or 4K when the GPU is more dominant.

Think of it in terms of something like 40 frame's per second and the difference is only an additional 6 frames. Its a significant increase but not huge.

Performance won't scale that much with AMD Zen 3

<gloat>Good thing I got my 2x16 GB g.skill DDR 4 kits running at 4000 cas 16...also, by sheer luck, got a NIB rtx 3080 ti from a local computer store at retail price</gloat>

Sorry, couldn't resist 🙃

Edit:  BTW, I see slight to no noticeable MSFS performance difference if I run my computer with full stock settings without XMP compared to having my CPU and RAM overclocks fully enabled.
