How do you add more than one "FSX view" to aircraft?

Featured Replies

When I'm adding my FS9 aircraft I always add one of the fixed position "FSX views". The thing is I cannot get more than one to work, and I do not know why. Since it only lets me add one, I always go for the view from behind the aircraft, but I would like to add some others. With any other FSX aircraft, I just see multiple [cameradefiniition.x] lines in the cfg, but if I try adding more than one on any FS9 aircraft, its a no go. Any ideas?

Eagle...I've not had any issues with adding many and varied views to imported AC; the only thing that occurs to me to ask you is -- did you give each view its own unique guid? I've always done that because it is described in the SDK. I doubt that it matters if one uses the same guid in two different AC because they aren't loaded at the same time - but having multiple views with the same guid in the loaded user craft MAY cause an issue. Hope you find the solution.Loyd

That's the fact. Must have unique GUID's for the new views or they won't activate, and pressing the key will be as if you've never added them. You can start out with "borrowing" the additional views from the config file of a stock aircraft such as the Baron. As Loyd says, those views will have unique GUID's per view and you can indeed re-use them (the whole shebang) in another aircraft.cfg. If you need to add additional views (and once you get the hang of it, you'll want to) you'll need to generate new GUID's for each view. The right way to do this is to use a GUID generator tool. Or, you can try your luck at changing just one or two characters in an existing GUID (don't use a character higher than F since it's in hex)but it's....risky....Anyway start with copying the views from the Baron into the aircraft.cfg file of your FS9 plane, and then adjust the camera positions, angles, and zooms to taste. The variables names are somewhat self-explanatory and I just made small changes to each to see what does what. You can even keep the aircraft.cfg file open as you adjust thnigs, just save it then re-load your plane (as in, load a different livery for it if you have more than one paint job) and it will re-scan the aircraft.cfg and you can see the effect of your changes as you are editing. I make a long flightplan winding through waypoints in the mountains and set it on GPS Autopilot so the plane flies itself as I make changes, save them, and switch liveries to see the effect of the change. Works well. Good luck.

Life's too short for that. Open the Options/Assignments menu and assign something like Ctrl-Shift-R to "Reload User Aircraft" and eliminate all the extra steps... ;)

Good stuff guys. Thanks a lot! I'll see what I can do. But if I do require a guid generator, how and where would I aquire one? Thanks

Guid generator from MS (of course)- works great; simple to usehttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enread the "C:Program FilesFSX SDKSDKsdk overview.html" for correct usage.Loyd
