The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

If I was still flying that would be my choice of a warplane. I've said this since they were released.

I think the plane would better serve the Army than the Air Force.  Most Air Force fighter jocks want to be in sleek, fast, new fighters like the F-22s and the GF-35s.  The Army already has a ground attack mission with it's helicopters and I think the A-10 would fit in nicely with them.  After all it is primarily an anti-tank weapon with it's Gatling Gun which, by the way, was also installed in the F-105.  Although it might have been a smaller caliber.  I don't know.  But the armor penetrating characteristics of the bullet was due to it's being made of depleted uranium.
