May 14, 200719 yr Hopefully (again). ;) Yes, the topic 'SP1 - It's Next Week' is old news by now, so I thought I'd start a new one... ;)Will our prayers be answered? Will our wishes be fullfilled? I hope so!!!This is going to be an exciting week anyway, because the first real DirectX10 demo will be released on May 15th: Lost Planet! I'm really VERY curious if the DX10 version of that demo will differ a lot from the DX9 demo! Of course I hope the differences will be HUGE because that would mean the upcoming DX10 patch (Q4 2007) for FS X will make a huge difference also! ;)
May 14, 200719 yr Gesh... Did you really have to duplicate a perfectly good thread? What was wrong with the first one? If you want to start a new thread, be the first to post that SP1 has been put up on FSInsider, then you'll get a few replies. Don't keep rehashing the same old subject lines... May 14, 200719 yr Don't forget that with Vista you loose ~15% of game performance over XP and the SP1 will just give you back these lost FPS. So basically XP users will be more happy then Vista-DX10 guys. ---------------------------------------Freeware A380 Load Editor coming soon !
May 14, 200719 yr I don't beleive it. Kill enough of the Vista background processes and services and Vista seems to work just the same as XP. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE

May 14, 200719 yr I can assure you that there is no loss of frame rate in vista with most games. There are a few that there is a bit of loss but overall, MOST of my games run just as good or better than they do in xp.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup
May 14, 200719 yr As much as I want SP1, I feel it's far more important for the developers to GET IT RIGHT than to release it hastily. The last thing we need is a "patch" with new bugs in it because ACES was under too much pressure to rush things out the door. (Isn't that exactly the complaint that many people leveled at FSX in the first place?) My own prayers will be answered, and my wishes fulfilled, when we have the HIGHEST QUALITY patch that ACES can reasonably produce. From all I've heard through the rumor-mill, ACES has been making excellent progress. It won't bother me in the least if they need to take a few extra days to polish/verify/optimize/finalize SP1 before it hits the streets. Phil Taylor seems to understand this quite well. Having said the above, I'm one of several people in this forum whose birthday is on Wednesday, and I definitely wouldn't mind getting a 'SPecia1' present from ACES! :-D Finally, I think we're more likely to see the DX10 patch for FSX in Q5 2007 ;) But seriously, those of you who aren't aware of the anticipated advantages of DX10/Vista over DX09/WinXP should see what ACES have written on this subject. The improvement in graphics quality could be quite significant for FSX and its successors. The bigger question in my mind is what effect the improved graphics will have on performance, using the best available hardware in Q5 (most likely, the new "Penryn" line of Intel 45nm CPUs) and beyond.
May 14, 200719 yr Hey, who pinched my thread!! x( :-lol :-lol In the meantime, whilst we twiddle our thumbs waiting for SP1 (the forum seems very quiet at the moment) anybody fancy a beer? :-beerchug
May 14, 200719 yr I go buy a case of beer I will get ousted from the forum as well as losing my virtual pilots license and getting tossed out of my digs! Does sound good though. :+ :+ :+ :-bat Gary

May 15, 200719 yr Wrong - I gained about 15% of game performance with Vista. I have created a benchmark to recreate the exact same environment and FSX performed 10%-20% better on Vista compared to XP.I have posted my results here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchPat
May 15, 200719 yr Well, it must be time for Microsoft to release something. Here come the stupid threads in the calm-before-the-storm!:9 Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
