Now that is a great idea! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Getting back to missions, I've been impressed since the beginning by the potential of this sim to be a tool of mission planning which it will be in the future if, as we say in French, the little pigs don't eat it (si les petits cochons ne le mangent pas). Some of our fellow simmers are obsessed by the idea of replicating to a T the job of an airline pilot. Nothing against that. But when they dismiss MSFS as a sightseeing simulator, they don't see that aviation is bit more than doing a 8 to 5 job driving a 320 between Paris to Nice or London to Manchester ... It had fantastic visuals for that time, beautiful weather effects and ATC was great too. It felt like a major step in terms of visuals. The atmosphere was one of a kind. February 3, 20224 yr Author I was flying over Mount Gambier Prison (not Gaol or Goal) in my MW ultra light the other day and that prompted my memory of the Escape from Alcatraz mission. Here in Australia we could only effect a break out if it was timed to coincide with the running of the Melbourne Cup. EVERYONE and their dogs are glued to the TV or mobile devices for that race! 🙂

It just looks nicer, and avoids any confusion with our 'English' speaking friends around the world! Edit: Apparently, our Aussie friends still use the word Gaol officially for some of their 'jails': e.g. Parramatta Gaol. I was intrigued by this discussion as the word gaol is close to the French quaint if not outdated word « geôle ». So I did a little research. The Merrian Webster says that gaol is just a different « chiefly British » spelling of the word jail. Both come from the Middle English jaiole, from Anglo-French gaiole, jaiole, from Late Latin caveola, diminutive of Latin cavea cage.
