February 2, 20224 yr I have vague memories of a scenario in Flight Unlimited II a few years back which featured an escape from Alcatraz. Is there any similar challenge in MSFS does anyone know?

February 3, 20224 yr Author Yeah well spelin was neva my strong point. 🙂 If anyone knows how to edit a thread title it would be appreciated. By the way I found what I was waffling on about in my Official Strategy Guide for Flight Unlimited II. Adventure number 2 - Escape from Alcatraz. Night flying and taking off from Garibaldi 6Q2. No lights, radio or transponder. You cut your engines in flight and glide into a landing next to the dock. Load up with escapees and high tail it to Gnoss Airport and land with your special delivery. FUII used a Beaver for this but we have some floaties that will suffice in our sim I think. I also reckon on some daylight practice flights to orientate myself. Edited February 3, 20224 yr by AOB

February 3, 20224 yr i remember that too, and no nothing like that in msfs. really a pity they did away the missions.
February 3, 20224 yr Gaol is an old English variant of the spelling, but we do tend to use jail now in the UK. It just looks nicer, and avoids any confusion with our 'English' speaking friends around the world! By the way, I have done my duty as a good citizen and reported this jail break thread to the authorities. Have a nice day! Edit: Apparently, our Aussie friends still use the word Gaol officially for some of their 'jails': e.g. Parramatta Gaol. You find gaol if you are reading a ballad Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

Just thinking about the the mission question, with Microsoft's ultra-woke policy now, they would probably steer clear of any jail break missions, or even dropping people in! Although I saw that someone has got around the 'no weapons' policy in the sim the other day, with someone firing rockets from a helicopter. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). February 3, 20224 yr I remember flying this mission in FU. It used the Beaver and was very cool. Thanks for the memory. "That's what" - She

I went back to Oscar W's great piece that I had not read for quite some time. I love when a post has such a resonance. Tortured soul, he was. Anyway, I am no woke (you knew that) and I like military aircraft but I don't like having operational weaponry in MSFS. It is not much a question of principle than that it implies of whole new ballgame of programming (ballistics etc) and we know that Asobo has already some work ahead just to make MSFS what it should be. Funnily enough some years back, one of the DCS guys hinted that he had talks with Venema at a flightsim show to inject Orbx scenery in their sim. February 3, 20224 yr @Dominique_K I am not a great fan of being able to blow stuff up either in MSFS. It isn't what it was designed for as you say. It is just that some of the military aircraft bought from the marketplace look a bit bare without at least a couple of 'winders on them. Bought outside the market place, aircraft like the G91, (which I think you also have) look better with a weapons loadout - them being 'inert' is no problem for me. If Microsoft / Asobo can do the training missions and monitor the parameters, they could easily introduce some non aggressive missions. The impact of a load on the flight model is indeed something which add a ton of add value (pun non intended) to a bird like the Gina which is one of my favorites. Also agreed about the non-aggressive missions, what I would love is to have reconnaissance cameras in the Gina and have screenshots from the camera angle 😄 to check whether the mission was accomplished.
