February 4, 20224 yr I've seen contradictory recommendations for both and don't fully understand how either work or their impact. Do most of you run with these on or off and what is your rationale? I generally keep both switched on and haven't perceived any impact from turning them off. Would it depend on what hardware you are using? I run a 5600X and RTX3070 at 1440. Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
February 4, 20224 yr I had them off, tried them on, had a couple CTDs the following days (very rare on my PC). So I switched them off again. Did they cause the CTD ? February 4, 20224 yr it might be interesting to also add if you are running Windows 10 or 11. I expected W11 to give a noticable improvement but turned HAGS off again. (RTX 3070) Running W11. As I say, I noticed no difference off or on with HAGS, but like game mode, I'm not sure what these 2 settings are actually supposed to do. February 4, 20224 yr Just did my first flight on a brand new build. I had HAGS off and game mode on. I’ll test the difference over the next few days, but I’ll say it was incredibly smooth with the exact settings I used on my old PC. (6700, 1070Ti, 32 GB) New PC is a 12700KF/3070/32.
February 4, 20224 yr I just installed nVidia driver 511.65, and tried it with HAGS off and Game mode on today. On a flight in the CJ4 from Broome to Darwin in NW Australia, it should have been a pretty smooth area as it is not challenging from an autogen point of view. However, I experienced terrible stutters, jerks and FPS drops right down to finals - very unusual for me luckily. So I then turned HAGS on and retried a flight from Darwin also in the CJ4 - and absolutely smooth. I could not have imagined it would make so much difference. So I'm now back to to pretty smooth... and I have to say relieved.
