February 15, 20224 yr I have to bring this back because I'm wondering if any of you are able to get the scenery (trees, etc) to load further out. Regardless of what # on the LOD slider I try, the trees don't extend far out toward the horizon. Performance drops, but the ring that many have complained about is still there on my monitor. Nothing but blurry scenery after a certain point. MSFS

February 15, 20224 yr I agree. I've used MSFS on two different computers now, and have never seen what you are describing.

I'm not seeing blurry textures bellow me. Only after a few miles ahead. The one that most msfs users have been complaining about since WU3 or 4 broke the draw distance tree mod. February 15, 20224 yr Perhaps it might be a configuration problem. What are your PC specs? And for @MrBitsFlyer, @andyjohnston.net it would be beneficial for @DJJose if you can share your settings for comparison. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

February 15, 20224 yr It's hard to tell cause its not a full size pic but DJ is talking about draw distance of objects.... not blurred terrain textures. The range was definitely much further out, well, in alpha lol, but even in earlier releases than now. They increased the viewable distance a few times due to complaints and it's better than it was now but still not as far out as it used to be. I think once it was compatible with xbox they axed the big draw distance due to performance. So people in these and other forums are saying things like "wow performance is way better." True - but at a large visual cost compared to what we had upon release. I guess there has to be a balance somewhere. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I was specifically referring to this with my screen grab... 3 hours ago, DJJose said: Nothing but blurry scenery after a certain point. I was at about 5,500ft - look directly above the Cessna and you will see building way off in the distance. Trees also draw way out - not as far as at release, but far enough to fill the scene. Mine is set to... {Terrain LoDFactor 3.200000 } I find a Terrain LodFactor of 3.2 and a RenderScale of 120 to be a good balance between texture sharpness and level of detail for my system. I've tried different lod settings, but I just get poor fps and stutters while panning. I have a 2600K @4.7, 32 GIGS of Ram, Titan (Pascal), SSDs, and 1080P monitor. My sys specs are not posted because with the same setup I was getting trees further out with and without the tree mod. MSFS

I think your graphics card gives more performance than my 2080ti and you are running at 1080p so you should have enough specs to match my monitor settings - I am running at 3440x1440! Could you try your terrain pre-cache at ultra because many find that better for panning stutters. Try without the tree mod.
