March 1, 20224 yr Hi Folks. I mainly fly vfr with the CIX VFR club but am trying to get my head around the PROCS of the G1000. Here's what I'm trying to do. I am currently in Lugano exploring the Italian lakes VFR. I decided to try a spot of IFR on my flight back to Lugano LSZA. I decided that the SRN6L arrival was good to try given my current position at the time. I then went DIRECT TO the SRN vor as it is the Initial fix for that arrival. I then intended to make use of the IGS 01 approach into runway 01. My problem is my lack of knowledge of the G1000. I could see the proper data blocks at the top of the PFD and was showing Direct to SRN in the MFD, however, I could not cancel the Direct To in order to start the Arrival. I could LOAD the arrival but I was expecting to see an option to Activate it when required. That option was not showing. Would someone very kindly point me to a decent tutorial please. I have watched various YT videos but none of them showed what I was wanting to do. I've also looked at the Garmin G1000 manual but I can't get my head around what the manual says and what is happening in the sim G1000. It would be great also if someone could do a step by step reply to me. I'm sure it will be a straightforward procedure (no pun intended) but at the moment I'm a bit befuddled as to the correct sequence. Thanks...Kenny.

Other than that, if you highlight the Arrival on the FPL page and hit Menu, you might get the option you are looking for.. Bert
March 1, 20224 yr Author Hello again Bert. Short answer is no. I could not get the Direct To function to cancel. I was simply trying out the various functions. I'll have another try this evening and take more notes. Do you know if it is possible to cancel a Direct To? If so, how is it done? Cheers...Kenny.

I would push the DTO button and look for options.. Bert

My understanding is the current version of the WT G1000NXi does not support cancelling a Direct To. One option is to go Direct To a different waypoint. Al Edited March 1, 20224 yr by ark
March 1, 20224 yr I think what would have worked would be to load the entire procedure first, and then select direct to SRN. The box should automatically cycle into the arrival upon reaching SRN. If you manually enter a direct-to SRN first, and then try to enter the arrival afterwards, you're going to have a disconnect at SRN. I imagine there's a way to clear a disco from the G1000, but I don't know what it is or if it's working yet on the NXi. Andrew Crowley
March 1, 20224 yr Author HI Guys. Thanks for all the info. I appreciate your input. I'm trying to get to grips with the PROCS so that I can show my flying buddy how to do it. The blind leading the blind comes to mind LOL. My plan is to fly the ORI1W departure out of LSZA rwy 01 then go for a jolly round the lakes then go Direct To SRN for the SRN6L arrival and then the IGS01 approach. I have until Friday evening to get the hang of it. If I can't then we will just go VFR round the lakes. The Departure works a treat, so that's something. Can I load all of the procedures into the box whilst still on the ground at LSZA? Would that constitute a proper flight plan for the G1000 to follow sequentially? So much to learn!! I'll try it all again this evening and report back. Cheers...Kenny.
March 1, 20224 yr After reading this thread i wanted to test that approach to see if i could help (obviously i could not) but then, even worse, i noticed that even the very basic ILS didn't work at all for me. I think i'm condemned to end up frustrated i try something in the sim 😁 if you (or someone else) do some flights again to LSZA before the end of the week, please let me know if you can follow that glidescope correctly .. for me (i tried 5 times) the GS is always lost. At 5000 feet i'm perfectly on the GS but then, as the plane follow the GS, the rate of descent is not good enough and i end up way too high (this approach is really extreme compared to standard ones at 3°). It's a bit frustating when things as basic as ILS do not work in a 'serious' sim. My test was done with the C208 using the WT G1000 Nxi mod, if i remove the WT mod, the GS seems to be followed correctly. So i'm wondering if it's a bug with that amazing addon (hopefully not because i really like it and wouldn't want to fly with the default again). probably i do something wrong, i would really appreciate some insight from forum specialists 🥰 Thank you 🍻

Saw about the same thing, the AP did not hold the glide slope. It's a 6.65 degree approach, which is a descent of about 708 ft/NM -- or about 1062 ft/min at 90 Kts, or 1416 ft/min at 120Kts.
