March 14, 20224 yr Love it. I played accordian in a polka band for about 10 years (12 - 22). I lived in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., a real Polish/Slavic/ area. It was REQUIRED for Polish boys to play the accordian! HA Stan
March 14, 20224 yr Hey Stan : As a teen i wanted to play polkas on drums . never happened. I was influenced by a sunday radio show, and going to the Danbury State Fair Danbury Connecticut. I watch the old video of Christopher Ebel playing the drums. At the fair it was Victor Zembruski, and family doing poleshka, and obereks.
March 14, 20224 yr Author I love Polka and Cajun music. Rural France has large Cajun music festivals every year. Even myself and the wife can do the two step hop and waltz without looking too awkward, LOL. But she's cajun, not slavic. But the accordion still rules! From Saulieu, Burgoyne, France: I swear the simple country 'Texas Two Step' must have derived from the Louisianan French quarter. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. A good waltz with steel guitar, etc. Another like of mine is western swing. certain Tex-Mex songs, Louisiana swamp pop. zydeco.Czech, and German immigrants have played a major role in the Texas sound. Germany, and Italy are kings of the world for accordions. Edited March 14, 20224 yr by Paul Deluca

Germany, and Italy are kings of the world for accordions. Yes, I think I agree with every word of that. I believe the Cajun's learned about the accordion from the Slavs and Germans. Maybe from the Pennsylvania Dutch just across the border In Pennsylvania. When the Cajuns (Acadians) were expelled (by the British) from The Maritime (South Eastern Canada) after the war (French and Indian war), they had barely started using the accordion. More than half of them decided their new home would be Louisiana (because it was owned by France). The accordion quickly became their favorite instrument down there. A song (I think written by Leon Helm) about two of their descendants in the early 1800's. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
