March 27, 20224 yr Author Hey Folks, thanks I'm certainly enjoying being able to push up those GFX settings to levels beyond my previous GFX card and I also found a new additional piece of kit yesterday. While tiding up my Win10 update I checked the Motherboard BIOS and found a new version just released. And that new version adds support for the Ryzen 5000 series processor to my Asus X370-Pro motherboard. A quick check of the AMD website showed also a just released update to the X370 chipset driver package. And a search of the fav computor stores showed the 5800X on special for $140.00 off the usual price in stock and ready to pick up. So after a short trip down the road I'm the new owner of a Ryzen 5800X. Dropped it in (after BIOS & chipset update), tuned to my standard SMT off with an overclock to 4.7 Ghz, then benchmarked at ~20% faster than my previous CPU. So new OS, GFX card and CPU - just like having a new computer and P3D and every other applciation I use has never performed better. This'll tide me over for a few years till the next round of kit updates are available, it'll be a new motherboard by then. One thing that does happen is the TPM is always enabled with this BIOS/CPU where as previously it was possible to disable, a nod to MS and Windows 11 requirements I assume.
