May 22, 200719 yr That area looks much better using the New World Landclass package referenced here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=399020&page=6Here's a screengrab showing how the package improves the look of the area around Bergen.http://i8.tinypic.com/6at5zbo.jpg

May 22, 200719 yr Commercial Member Hi guys, maybe the FSX version of Norway Scenic takes care of the desert?http://www.flightsim.no/file/FSX/Scenery/Europa/Norge/I'm downloading right now to check it out.Cheers, Holger
May 22, 200719 yr Commercial Member Hi guys, now we're talking ;-)Nice job with the Norway Scenic project! I'd prefer having flattened lakes but at least the deserts are gone and we have many more lakes and rivers.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/172143.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/172144.jpgThe difference in fps between the two images is due to water effects setting (Low 1.x vs. Mid 2.x). I actually prefer Low 1.x for most situations because it doesn't give the water that tropical blue tinge. Also, I usually keep my fps locked at 20 given my elderly system. I was just curious about performance in this region.Cheers, HolgerAMD 64 3500+ (~2.2GHz), 2048MB RAM, ATI RADEON X800 PRO, XPSP2
May 22, 200719 yr Thanks for that link, Holger. Norway Scenic is a big improvement over the New World package I mentioned above. Here's a screengrab from the same general area using the Norway Scenic package.http://i2.tinypic.com/675l99s.jpgThis one's a keeper.
May 22, 200719 yr >If FSX was my wife she'd cost me too much to keep her happy,>never do as she's told, would be no fun and I'd probably land>up divorcing her!Aaah but the S*X is great (not worth the trouble in the end but still...)
May 22, 200719 yr I have the same symptoms and believe that there is also a regression bug with the textures causing blurries. The 2nd core on my system goes up to 100% utilization and then just says there. From that moment onwards I get blurries.ACES haven't commented yet but would be nice to hear what they have to say.JCMK
May 22, 200719 yr Wow, that looks a lot better indeed. Thx for the tip, Holger! I will install them this evening: I am VERY curious what will happen with my fps though...
May 22, 200719 yr Could someone explain to me how to install this scenery files? I cannot open de doc that comes with it. I could at work but here I can't somehow. Jeg ikke snakker norsk bra, but that's not the problem. ;)
May 22, 200719 yr Commercial Member Hi there, very simple: * place the Norway_Scenic_X folder in Addon Scenery or wherever you keep your scenery/landscape add-ons* start FSX and add the two folders that are inside of Norway_Scenic_X -- Norway_Scenic_X and Norway_Scenic_X_Exclude -- to your FSX scenery library menu* make sure that the _Exclude entry is at lower display priority, i.e., below the Norway_Scenic_X entry* if you also have the FS9 Norway Elements mesh package from the same site then you can add that to the scenery library as well (if you have FSGlobal or FSGenesis files for that area you don't need the mesh)* have fun!Cheers, HolgerP.S.: given that the lakes aren't flatten you'll notice a lot of rocky areas around the shorelines. That's the FSX approach to prevent water bodies on slopes showing as water. If you prefer the FS9 method (i.e., water stays water) then you should install the modified terrain.cfg file: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...scen&DLID=93289P.P.S.: keep an eye our for Lennart Arvidsson's Scandinavian ground textures and small airports to be released soon: http://www.flightsim.no/home/textureart/
May 22, 200719 yr But Ryan, I've been doing this long enough to realize that 22 FPS in THE SPOT VIEW in a Cessna translates to probably less than 20 in the VC, in a nothing aircraft in the middle of nowhere. Good grief, how and why does this excite you?........Like Holger says, it's sad really.http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
