Hello all! I wanted to get your opinions on what you thought would be a good LOD for airliners. Yes I know that performance is a factor but what are your thoughts? I am at 150 currently. Cheers!

Have you tried the new vegetatation debugger?

It gives a good indication on the relationship between lod and the Trees settings, i pressume the buildings setting are similarily affected.it shows the calculation and draw distance at current settings and also expected at other settings

It essentially shows that with trees set at high there is almost no displayed difference in tree distance with terrain lod from 100 to 400 at around 11km draw distance but note it appears the calculations are still being made as the cpu still get hammered if you crank the LOD.

I was running 150 but have set this back to 125 this hugely released my cpu for smooth flights.

Note i don't fly tubre only tbm, kodiak 172 g1000s.

The debugger is a useful tool to help set lods for a smooth experience and show you the draw distance.

Where do you get that one? I thought it will be only for SU9, no?

Forgot that, I am in the Beta for SU9, it is in the developer mode options.

On the ground and during takeoff / landin as little as possible, in cruise as much as possible. You can easily go to 400 when in cruise, but it's a stutter fest if you go to a big airport and have >200 (assuming you also use AI like AIG).

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Which is why it would be great if it was dynamic.
