So then he could use that folder like a standard custom addon and activate / deactivate it with AL in the community addon and the sim wouldn't bother because the official one is disabled. Anyway like i said i don't really recommend this unless you're an AL/MSFS specialist (i mean if you want to link them on demand, if you just want to uninstall then i guess no problem to uninstall what you don't like) 🍻 Hi, I've been using your Add-on-Linker since day one. It's great and, for me, it's the only way to have scenery and aircraft in a separate external disc (a rather big and fast one), and activate when I need. But now I realize that, perhaps, the advantage could be even greater if I move Asobo scenarios and planes that I barely use (or that conflict with other payware or freeware add-ons) to this external drive. By doing this, I could save space on my SSD drive where I have MSFS installed. Is this possible? What should I do then? Delete them first with the add-on manager and then save the folders containing the planes and the scenarios as if they were scenarios not belonging to Asobo-Msfs? Pardon my English and thank you in advance.
May 21, 20224 yr @John Fields if the goal is just to move the folder to save space on where your official/onestore folder exists and you can leave the links in AL always activated i think you can do this. If the goal is to be able to activate/deactive them on demand it's not always possible (see below with the 'c53' example) Example : let's say you want to move some official airports. Example -> asobo-airport-biis-isafjordur and asobo-airport-c53-lowerloon Go into the advanced tab of AL and specify the folders as seen below ('ms-store' folder is different than steam but you should be able to find it out i guess, i think it's called 'onestore') Then move the 2 airports in the 'custom official folder' that you have parametrized. After that, the 2 addons should not be anymore in the 'official/onestore' folder. In addons linker you will see them and you will be able to link them just like you do with 'community' addons, the link will be created in the official/onestore folder (will appear with a different color) So the sim will see it as if you hadn't move them out and everything should work without problem (links are managed at windows system level, the sim doesn't see a difference between a link or a real folder). So the files are now stored on another drive and the sim will see them correctly. Now the weirdo part that i can't explain when using the method above : - if in addons linker i don't activate 'biis' there is no problem and the sim will not ask you anything - if in addons linker i don't activate 'c53' then the sim will ask me to redownload it at the start and it's mandatory, so the link has to be always active otherwise you can't start the sim. not sure what triggers that 'mandatory download' or not (probably because biis is part of an optional WU update whilde c53 is a base core file), probably some secret MS/Asobo stuff 😱, but if it's mandatory you obviously have to keep them always activated ! So well yeah it's all at the same time very simple and very complicated and that's why you have to understand everything very well otherwise you shouldn't start messing with this and the regret having done so 🙃. Please, as always, and i can't stress this enough, try first with only one single addon, make sure it works and that you understand everything before moving too many things and then regret it 🙂 .. If you have the MS-Store version of the sim, sometimes moving data outside of the official/onestore folder can cause issues for some users due to Microsoft Windows right management / encryption that render the files unreadable when moved (with steam i think this problem doesn't exist), so it's very important to start slowly and make sure everything works before moving too many things. Like i said earlier, i don't encourage people moving stuff from official/onestore content because it's certainly not recommended by MS/Asobo, only if you understand everything at 100% and are not scared to try things. ok i've made it a bit too long as always 🙂 .. hope it's not too confusing 🙊 🍻 Edited May 21, 20224 yr by Bad_T

It's a great possibility for saving space in a disk. I'll try it when my SSD is fuller (the other solution is to buy another SSD with greater capacity, of course!). Regards
