The pmdg forums are also full of people with problems, it's normal with these releases.

And normal for forums in general. Especially support forums which by nature shall provide support for those having problems. And thus you will read mostly about issues.

So, OP, don’t judge any product by the amount of bad posts. Like in any other forum or even on Amazon you need to read between the lines. If reputable people here including real life pilots on YouTube tell you that a product is fine or even excellent and behaves well on systems like yours then I would tend to rather trust them than the naysayers. Just my 2 cents

and to chime in as well, I own the 737, 146, CRJ, Twotter and Fenix. All behave just fine on my machine and I do not have the fastest CPU nor GPU. But note that I do not fly 4K and not with T or VLOD above 120, also no PG (primarily because I do neither like nor see it from FL340), VSYNC30 but clouds ultra, „texture something“ ultra, other settings primarily high, always life weather and real time traffic with MP on. Again, all mentioned aircraft just fly fine and smooth. Remember. Smooth is subjective IMO, means if it feels and behaves smooth then it is smooth for me, regardless of whether I get just 30fps or >50fps. Yes, I cannot crank everything up but that is fine with me. FSX was also meant to grow with new HW and completely unusable - when released - on highest settings on my machine back then; actually it didn’t ever become many years and HW cycles as flyable as MSFS out of the box. Again, just my 2 cents

and to make it 6 cents in total: I currently fly the Fenix. Most. Did throw in the 737 today for a short hop. It is a great aircraft and indeed less demanding on my system. Yet I keep coming back to the Fenix just for the sheer system depth and immersion as I am still learning even after having flown the FBW for more than a year now.

good luck with your decision 😉

@DAD Thanks for that write up. I have a hefty processor and 32gb of ram and a Nvidia 1080. I run 1920x1080 with PG on (for now). I think I get great performance honestly. I think clouds are on ultra and most others on medium or high, I could probably turn a few others up and not notice a big hit. So I think I would be fine with the Fenic. I will eventually get both though and any others that come out. I'm having a blast so far.

I have another question concerning this topic. The current PMDG airline is the 737-700. Does that mean when they release the 737-800 it will be an expansion to the 700? or will I need to spend 70 bucks again? Just curious because that is what it looks like they did with other sim versions.

That and is seems like you get 3 different airliners with the PMDG plane, Passenger, Business and Cargo. You don't get that with the Fenix do you?

Also, I've overloaded myself with info. Which aircraft is the newest? The 737-700 or the a320?

I'm getting close to purchasing one of these aircraft. Just need to make sure I will be happy with which ever I choose.

You need to spend 70 bucks again. They changed the product structure from previous sims, where you'd have a costly base pack and low priced expansions. In MSFS you pay for every variant, which this time do include cargo and BBJ versions.
As for newness, that's hard to say. The 737 is based on a 60s airframe and concept, so that would make the A320 newer; the 737 NG itself is however 10 years young than the A320, so it depends on the perspective.

There's basically no real life cargo A320, so that would be a completely fictional version. You will however, get other "variants" for free in the future, like the IAE engines A320 and the Sharklets A320.

Both are great, but as of now the Fenix offers the far more complete package, though the difference might shrink once the EFB comes out for the 737.

Buy both, they are about the best you will ever get for MSFS. Or buy whatever suits your piloting style more: A highly modernized automatic aircraft (A320) or a mix between old school switch flipping and computerization (737).

@Fiorentoni Thank for the information. Sucks that they changed the product structure like that. Would have secured me 100% as a customer had that been the case.

I didn't realize that the a320 doesn't have a cargo version. The one thing about the 737 was it is basically a 3-in-1 with those other options but if I can't upgrade it to a -800 then I'm not sure I want to waste money on this version.
