Why is Technobrain scenery so expensive?

Recommended Posts

I don't have many sceneries from Japan, so I was looking to buy one or two. I saw scenery from Technobrain and I noticed how expensive they are. Why are they so expensive? Are the sceneries worth it?

Kobe $37.31 (USD)

Kansai $41.57 (USD)

Osaka $39.44 (USD)

Naha $41.57 (USD)

Chitose $41.57 (USD)

Looking at the product features it's just the airport and no mesh or nearby cities. I just don't get it. For a comparison FlyTampa Amsterdam is only $26.65 (USD).

Well although the world has getting closer due to the global market, there are still areas which aren't the same like US and Europe. I think they have a higher price level in Japan. Best is to wait until they have a sale. Usually you get 50% off at Simmarket. I can see this a 2-4 times a year. Then it's well worth it. It is not FlyTampa that's true but I'm the kind of person who does not need FlyTampa detail to be satisfied with an airport. I prefer accurate parkings and taxiways, a good AI traffic afcad. Still did not update Amsterdam, usind the old FlyTampa version till today.

I'm guessing the exchange-rate for the Yen is probably not too good either, but they do seem very expensive.

I just checked BBC pages. One year ago it was 154 to 1 GBP. Today it's 159.

So it's another reason. I always found his choice of company curious. Technobrain?

Well, their scenery feels very outdated visually, and somehow unreasonably heavy on performance..... wouldn't recommanded unless no other alternative.

No. I have their RJTT.  Every time I had a flight in/out of there, I was always left disappointed.

I feel their scenery not only looks like it belongs to the FSX era, but it also always performs terribly.
If you are desperate for a Japanese scenery from them, you should wait for a sale, as @blaunarwalpoints out.

If you want RJBB, look to BDO Aviation's version when it goes on a frequent sale.

I just had read somewhere else, the RJTT lag is due to conflict with default scenery data, try delete Scenery\1002\scenery\BRX85190.bgl

EDIT: I tried on P3Dv4 while the original post is for v5, it's no longer "unreasonably lag"... but still a little performance heavy compare to other add-ons....

They frequently have 60% off sales, wait for one of them

Can confirm it's unnecessarily CPU intensive and looks below average.

It's a shame as I'd love to fly into an RJTT but avoid it given the lack of options.

I have Technobrain ROAH &  RJCJ/RJCC. Got 'em on sale and am vy happy with them.  FPS 25 to 45, no lags.  JASDF AI is smooth and well done.  Bldg's a little FSX-ish but  not a deal breaker at sale price.

It´s on sale now. But as said before, a bit dated but without alternatives.
