yep,....it's what's commonly called a backlash........in this case caused by a mistrust of those that pull the strings in technology ........which manifests itself through technology............a mistrust of tech  brought about by perceived dodgy practices that tech has now made possible.

All I can say is that in general levels of trust with the general public are generally decreasing from what was generally considered the norm

Your link is nothing to do with mistrust by the general public though. Its the authorities imposing the regulations. I've seen nothing that suggests that the general public are buying less phones and tech "because they don't trust the companies involved". Smart phone sales are up not down. Same for other tech.

The day we have to plug an attachment to our iPhone and shove it up the kazoo for an at home prostate exam, I’m out. 😂😂

I don’t mind doing an at home blood pressure check, EKG, taking my own temperature, or even pricking my finger to take an at home blood test, but that’s as far as I’m willing to go for self examination.

Let me know when they start doing it with prostate exams.

Do you think your iPhone will fit?

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I have a question for you techies.  In an hour I have an appointment with my renal doctor.  10 days ago I went to the lab and they drew 4 vials of blood and I had to pee in a cup.  Can I pee on my iPhone and have it send the results to my doctor?  Can I word not allowed the end of my finger and smear a drop of blood on my iPhone and have it to a complete blood workup?

Not all of that right now, but it really is just limited by the available sensors, and there are new ones coming out all the time. Diabetics can better monitor blood glucose levels with connected sensors, which is great for kids as you don't need to get blood samples. With some of the recent advances in prostate testing, they may one day be able to just use blood or urine samples rather than a finger too.

Others have developed ultrasound devices that can connect directly to an iPhone that could possibly one day be used at home. While you may not be able to interpret the images, they could easily be sent to your doctor for review, or directly to a specialist in another city if there isn't one available locally.

This will not entirely replace your doctor, but it would mean people could catch conditions well before your regular visit. For example, there have been a number of stories over the years where people with Apple Watches have discovered heart conditions that their doctors had missed, or caught them earlier than an annual physical would have.

Like I said above, we are basically witnessing the birth of the tricorder from Star Trek which the doctors in the show used to diagnose people.
