Bing maps vs Google maps

Recommended Posts

I gave it a shot,   you can switch on the fly and compare in real time.   Both had advantages to me,   couldn't make up my mind.   Ended up going with default.   Will revisit when I fly a diff area.

I have had zero interest in trying the Google map thing....but why are the trees grey with the Google version??  Seems a bit silly if you lose the AI color adjustments you get with the default Bing tiles...

Flying out of Bella Coola valley, Bing uses some sort of generic textures which are terrible, while Google give you great orthos.  So it depends upon where you are flying.

Can’t make up my mind either😂. It really depends on the area, so no way to tell which one will look better until you try them.

So instead of concentrating on flying, you have to focus on switching back and forth from Bing to Google......??/

Different strokes for different folks🙂. This was just an experiment to check it this mod was worth investigating. I enjoy looking at the scenery when I fly and I would like the most realistic scenery as possible. I'm sure that very shortly I will end up with one choice and stick with it, and if I don't, that is entirely up to me to decide. I'm not asking asking or suggesting that anyone should do the same...others can perfectly make up their own minds depending on their wishes or priorities when it comes to flight sim. 😏

The two should be complementary, some parts of the world are better represented on Google while others are on Bing. So...

OK both are pretty good. So perhaps the main decision criterion should be coverage. Bing photogrammetry coverage is significantly less than Google.
