July 2, 20223 yr Not really, but I don't understand such large fire stations like this ( Asobo / EIDW). Dublin, But every day in even a much smaller medium size city you hear fire trucks daily. But how often do the trucks roll out from a large airport station? Seems to me that's a lot of station bays and trucks. A lot of money to run the system. There's how many fires or paramedic emergencies at a large airport in a decade? I'm making a wild ill informed guess of about as many as the city itself has in a day. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. July 2, 20223 yr How many trucks would be needed if a fully-fueled aircraft hit a terminal building? Far fetched? Maybe. But it seems to me you need to plan for a worst-case scenario. I'd rather spend a little extra money than see someone die needlessly. July 2, 20223 yr I think it is the concept of "better to have and not need it than to need it and not have it". If something really bad happened to a fully fueled aircraft, especially if it is still at the gate, you might think there are not enough fire fighting vehicles in the world. Is the concept of housing all of them in one spot a good idea? Probably not, but sometimes space limitations dictate doing so. July 2, 20223 yr They also serve who just sit and wait. Better to be safe than sorry. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
