July 8, 20223 yr Recently, I downloaded the ORBX NA Northern and Southern CA products and noticed large patches of black terrain with with orange lines going across in some areas, particularly around LA. I use P3D v5.3. I tried getting assistance in the ORBX forum but the solution given won't work. Did anyone experience this issue and is there a a solution that works? Except for the ORBX LC, Vector and TerraFlora V2, I have no other third-party textures or even scenery/airports loaded in that area. I ended up uninstalling both ORBX NA Southern and Northern CA products because of this issue but am willing to reinstall both if there's a solution. Thanks!

Run the P3D repair utility, and re-download your Orbx stuff. Vector first and the your True Earth California packages and Terraflora last. I have a huge load of scenery addon Flight1 Ultimate Terrain NA for vector and urban only Orbx Base Orbx NA Orbx Buildings Orbx Trees Orbx Freeware Airports Orbx True Earth Florida I had to do some experimenting in the scenery layering. Orbx does not always order it just right. Look at your layering priority as well. Mine looks good. Not satellite exact as MSFS but convincing enough to fly by pilotage. I flew recently from Pigeon Forge regional to Shenandoah Harrisonburg and followed I-81 for most of it to see if I could. A2A Bonanza. Took 2 hours at 170 KTS. true.

What you need is to sort the ORBX landclass below the sceneries and both of them below your other sceneries. You need a scenery manager to do that, e.g. Lorby Scenery Manager. Then ORBX Central, go to help and synchronize products. It is quite a common problem often asked and answered in the forums at ORBX. It is not wrong to uninstall and reinstall everything. It makes the same, bringing things back to order but if you have 600 GB it will take you a long time. If you only have 4 Sceneries and Global, then its easy doing this. July 8, 20223 yr Author Hi Blaunarwal, thank you for the additional tip. Does Lorby Scenery Manager reorder and synchronize the products, or does ORBX Central do that (or both)?
July 8, 20223 yr Orbx Central \Settings\Insertion Point should be used to order the Orbx entries. Orbx Central orders the Orbx scenery and the Insertion Point function can then be used to place it in a block within a scenery library. Typically, this will be below the lowest of any other developers' addons, as advised on the Insertion Point page. Orbx Vector, if used, will be placed automatically below Africa. It is not a good idea to either insert other developers' products into the main Orbx block or indeed to interfere with the order of the Orbx entries as set by Orbx Central. July 8, 20223 yr In addition to setting the insertion point in Orbx Central and forcing a manual re-sync from the OC help page, it should be noted that some third-party sceneries that include their own landclass files can also cause those black night tiles to appear. This is because the Orbx LC products introduced a bunch of new LC types and remapped everything to their expanded tile definition set, and the LC included in the sceneries points to default LC tiles that have been re-mapped by the Orbx LC. A fair number of LatinVFR sceneries have this issue. Usually disabling the LC bgl(s) found in the third-party scenery folder (the files generally have "LC" in the name) will cure those problems. I usually order with Lorby Addon Manager or SimstarterNG, which is easy to order. Central has also a kind of order function, but you can only name insertion points, what I feel is much more complicated. It is certainly good to sort everything into blocks, ORBX scenery block and landclass block. But to move it around as block below your other sceneries, it´s easier with a scenery manager I think. July 8, 20223 yr I find it common that users will use Lorby's or any addon manager to improperly reorder their scenery without having first correctly set their ORBX insertion point. This often causes major issues so users will run an ORBX verify which moves the layers back to how they have it incorrectly set in the insertion points so they try to fix it again with the Addon manager. It becomes a cycle of confusion and frustration for the user. I can't even think of how many times I've seen it in the forums over the past 12 years or so. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

Dan It is hard to think of a more simple way of ordering scenery library entries than that used by Orbx Central. Once the insertion point is set below 1. Orbx Central does the rest. It goes like this: 1.Other developers' scenery 2.Orbx airports 3.Orbx regions 4.Orbx landclass big gap to Africa 5.Orbx Vector big gap to scenery 0000 6.Orbx Vector, one entry, FSX and P3D v4 only. Complication will only result if the user breaks out the Lorby Addon Manager or SimstarterNG and starts to second guess what Orbx Central has just done for them. There is nothing wrong with any of the three utilities but it must be understood how to make them work together, as they all do the same thing but in different ways. Edited July 8, 20223 yr by Reader
