July 19, 20223 yr Not sure if it's just me but if I leave Rolling Cache on, close the sim, and restart my computer I never able to get into FS again until I reinstall the whole sim. This has happened consistently. Basically, if I fly in one area using Cache (west coast US) and then fly in another area later (Australia or East Coast US for example) when I reload up the sim it seems cache can't delete the previous area. It lets me fly in the new area but if I close out the sim that's it, game over especially if I shut down and/or reboot. I have to remove/delete my rolling cache before shutdown to avoid the problem where the sim won't load up casing me to have to reinstall the whole sim. As a side note it's great with this sim that all that's needed is to remove the 'Community Folder' and put it back once the sim reinstalls. Sim's past a reinstall was a multiple day event to get everything back up and running. Thanks in advance for any feedback. I believe I may be late on the issue here. Asobo mentioned this was just a problem on XBOX but since the last update it's also an issue on PC. July 19, 20223 yr What comes to mind is this is related with the Google maps mod and it's cache. have you been using that? Rather than reinstalling MSFS, you can try manually deleting the rolling cache file in Windows. Also, I think you should disable all your add-ons, even your marketplace add-ons, if this happens. Add-ons cause all sorts of problems, and that's the first thing I disable when I have problems with MSFS, especially with MSFS not loading, etc. Lastly, if you can't fix the rolling cache problem, you can just disable rolling cache, if you have a good internet connection. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

All three I've tried. I have the Cache defaulting to a specific location to insure it's on a drive with plenty of space. Never had a problem before. Manually deleting it after the damage is done does nothing to solve the issue. I tried disabling my add-ons and none of them seems to be causing the issue. Even with a good connection FS seems to be sensitive to 'bufferbload' which seems to be an issue with fiber lines (an AT&T standard). The FS connection issue always happens when flying into dense city areas like KMIA, KLAX, and KNYC to name a few. Rolling Cache corrects the issue and/or makes the problem far less than it would be otherwise. I'm finding I have to use Rolling Cache for airliner flying and turn it off for GA flights. The problem now is I have to remember to turn it off after I'm done with an airline flight or my sim will be hosed the next time I try to load it up.😬🤕 The only thing I haven't tried is different sizes for my cache. Maybe certain sizes cause a problem.😶 Edited July 19, 20223 yr by Dillon FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

Even in the Twitch Q&A, one of the Asobo people (Seb or Martial, I can't remember exactly who) recommend not to make rolling cache that big. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
July 19, 20223 yr i'm one of the few people that likes the rolling cache. I even expaneded it to 1.5TB on an external drive. Checked first hand that i dont get performance problems, but i saw that when flying over a Photogrametry City like new york, the maximum of read and write was like 10-20mb/s, so enough for extrernal device. After flying and caching all the data for new york i can fly there even offline and have nice photogrametry of NY. So i dont have to worry about caching all with manual cache and just fly and cache while flying. In case i would have no internet availiable it can still use the cached data. I don't recreate my Rolling Cache folder sind SU 4 and never had a Problem, but it seems like i'm one of a few people, lucky me ^^

That mod* comes with its own cache, allowing you to turn off the sim's rolling cache but still get the benefits of cached data. I personally use it with Bing's default maps rather than Google's since, Bing is more up-to-date in my area. * Specifically the older 5.0.9 version. IIRC the latest version removed the caching feature for some reason.

No, cache is still available and active in version 5.1.0. Defaults to 10GB and I've never had a problem using it or the MSFS native cache set to 8GB. I have a data cap and enjoy using the sim after the third week of any month. Anyways, the OP doesn't use it and adding things to a problem is never a good way to find an answer. -J 13700KF | RTX 4090 @ 1440 | 64GB DDR5 | 2 x 1TB SSDs | 1TB M.2 NVMe
