July 19, 20223 yr Been ignoring this for a while (fed up with all the updates) but got yet another email about a new version and weakened. The authorisation process seems a bit better than I remember, and that helped. Bit like the Cessna 414, I didn't anticipate just how far off any kind of release date this "pre-release" product was. I dare say lots of people are well happy to feel involved with the development process, but for me it just feels like hassle. Not saying anything bad about the product here, I thinks it's great, but I would have been happy to stay with just the H135 if I'd known how long and how many releases this would involve. Anyway, I might spend some time re-familiarising myself with it now, and maybe the H135 as well. Haven't done much hovering of late. So back at KACY as I've been enjoying that a lot. Just three shots. Floyds cloud presets again. Seems you can use both 1.1 and 1.3 together which gives even more options If you blow this next one up full screen, you might spot a couple of other choppers in the shot. There's one down below on the left at around my 10 O'Clock, and slightly less visible at maybe 01.00 from the cockpit in the distance. These are both part of the "Traffic in Sight (NE)" package from the South Oak people who do the birds packages. Another one of those packages that just adds a bit more life to the sim, IMO. This is definitely a fine looking sim now Enjoy! Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
July 19, 20223 yr The H135 and H145 were the two aircraft I used to learn rotary wing flying - and I am very glad I did expand my simming into helicopter flight. I agree its been a process, with many updates to install, but IMHO it was worth being part of the development program to do it. The newest update is not yet installed on my system, but the last one was such a huge step up from the previous one, I am sure there will be plenty of value-add in this one too. The new features are one thing, but the added availability of scenarios for the new variants is another thing to provide interest and challenge - and I am about to dive into those! Oh, and this was also the aircraft which motivated me to take up the massive challenge of learning Blender to produce this US Coast Guard livery (along with dozens of other liveries) - another very worthwhile bonus! Cheers, Brian L Robinson Flight Simmer since 1983 - loving the brilliant Quality Wings 787 and all PMDG models!!

These (and indeed all the helos I have both here in MSFS and in (particularly) XPlane) are great fun, and you really don't have to be any kind of expert to fly them. The 135 and 145 in particular have some great autopilot modes and once you've figure them out are real easy to use. This was my first heli flight for over six months, and although I had to read the manual (heaven forfend!) for a couple of minutes at first to check a couple of things out it was pretty straightforward. Not so much with these two, but with most of the others it just takes a bit of practice to get the muscle memory in place for the combination of pedals and stick - but you really do need pedals - I can't begin to imagine how you could fly these things without them. Once you begin to get the feel for that it's like riding a bike (but with further to fall if you scr*w it up <grin>) 8 hours ago, ozzieblr said: The H135 and H145 were the two aircraft I used to learn rotary wing flying - and I am very glad I did expand my simming into helicopter flight. Hi Brian, and thanks for the livery! Was it you that did the LAPD ones too? I just got the IniBuilds LA Heliport and will be playing there later - I already have a bunch of freeware LA heliports and that is one great place to take these birds. I will admit that if this thing settles down to a more stable pattern of release/update I will quite probably get in to some serious study of it. I'm generally not bothered about piloting - as long as I can get in the air and move about that's all I need and I really don't care about flight plans, buttons and dials and all that other stuff. But I'm in to this whole thing for the scenery and of course a heli is a great way to drive around gawping at all that stuff. And I envy you you painting/Blender skills. I've often thought about trying to get in to that but when I look at the paintkits for the various models my brain explodes. I used to do a lot of graphic work with Corel back in the day but I look at the supplied stuff for these aircraft paintkits and it just seems nonsensical to me. And anyway, just maintaining the sim when I've got probably 1000 bits of addon scenery and over 100 aircraft takes enought time and effort! July 20, 20223 yr Hi Andy Yes the Blender package is a cow of a thing to get into but it is worth persisting - you can do some fabulous things with it! No someone else did the LAPD liveries but I did the California Highway Patrol livery, which you might also enjoy!
