They will do the 737/777/747 and by the time they're over, a new simulator will be upon us, at which time they will AGAIN do the 737/777/747 and that cycle will repeat itself until the sun explodes. Why wouldn't they? The reason why they are carrying them over is pretty simple. There is a ton of demand for these aircraft and also not many if any developers doing the same aircraft, at least not in MSFS, so letting go of the backbone of your business would be suicide. I get the wish for variety, but I don't get why people want that to happen at the cost of forfeiting the most popular aircraft for the sake of a niche aircraft like a C-130. Several developers have said over the years that based on their sales numbers, people want to fly the aircraft they see at the airports, so giving that up to develop other types with a lot less demand doesn't make sense. IMHO the variety of available types should be built upon what's already there rather than giving that up because then you just end up in the same situation with less variety again, only this time with a lot of lower demand products which is actually worse than before. That being said, PMDG have pretty much already confirmed the 757 in an Asobo FAQ-stream.

That being said, PMDG have pretty much already confirmed the 757 in an Asobo FAQ-stream. Yup, I agree with this analysis. The other thing is, PMDG wants to keep the barrier to entry high. By consistently doing the 737/747/777 for every platform they come across, it dissuades other companies from making these planes. The moment PMDG decides to work on a niche aircraft instead of the 737/747/777, and another company finds out about this, that company may decide to make a 737/747/777 for that platform to fill in the gap for the demand. Then PMDG will no longer have a monopoly on that platform, and even worse, in a future platform, this competitor to PMDG will have source code as the base code to do a 737/747/777 for the new platform. By consistently doing the 737/747/777 for the current platform, this means no other company may decide to challenge PMDG on the current platform, which means if there is a new platform (ie. MSFS 2 one day), PMDG once again has base code ready to do a 737/747/777 for the new platform, which gives them a competitive advantage, and the cycle repeats, and they keep their competitors out. If I ran PMDG, I would do exactly what they are doing now, to keep my competitors away, and keep a monopoly of the 737/747/777 for each new platform PMDG is selling on. TLDR: By continually making the 737/747/777 every time, Randazzo can afford to own a DC3. He won't be able to afford his keep his DC3 much longer if he gives up his monopoly of the 737/747/777.
