3 Classic 747 Operators (3 engines and 9 pictures)...

Featured Replies

Before leaving, for now, the nice set of (HD) repaints from the JF/CLS Package (please see my previous two posts), here are 9 pictures of the 747-200, in 3 different (well-known) liveries, noting that these (shown) airliners were equipped with engines from 3 different makers (GE CF6 for Alitalia, RR RB211 for British Airways, and P&W JT9D for Qantas...) ...

The -200 was the first 747 to provide a choice of powerplant from all the three major engine manufacturers (Pratt & Whitney / Rolls-Royce / General Electric). I've included, below, close up of the engine-sets in the pictures below, for each type, if you wish to view a pictorial comparison. Rolls-Royce broke ground with 747 engine production with a launch order from British Airways for four aircraft (see pictures below of BA 747-200 with RB211 engines). The P&W JT9D engines were the most unmistakable, I think...its major applications been with (A300/A310, 747/767, and DC-10) ....

747 was developed in so many variants, but, among the main variants of it (-100/-200/-300/-400), could you take a guess...🙂... (no need for answer, here) ...associating the number of deliveries for each...from the listed (randomized) numbers below...

[694, 81, 205, 393]

(The most successful -400 is listed first...) ...

This year (2022), the Final 4 747s (747-8Fs) to be built by Boeing will be delivered to Atlas Air...the carrier received the first of 4, last month (June), and is expected to receive the remaining 3 more by October, thereby, marking the end of the 747 production line....it was a good run, for sure...for the Jumbo...!

Thanks for viewing...!!
