Flying in VR with MSFS 2020

Featured Replies

Hello,

VR for sim flying becomes increasingly popular in my opinion.

I exclusively fly in VR (Varjo Aero HMD) and I'm looking for a suitable ATC addon. Pilot2ATC looks impressive and it supports voice control and a co-pilot for frequency settings etc. So far so good!

What is lacking is a VR interface showing the essential P2A screens (e.g. communication, routing map) necessary during flight to be enabled via the toolbar. Of course Navigraph is already present there. Very handy!

I saw some demonstrations of captains having the entire PC virtual desktop on their virtual knees but I don't find that very appealing.

My question: Is the Pilot2ATC creator willing/planning to bring his great addon to a higher level by developing a VR client?

Thanks!

Agree Peter but that doesn't stop me from asking again and waiting for an answer from the developer, Dave I believe.

Creating a VR interface for P2A is and has been on the wish list for some time.  Unfortunately, it is a major effort and at present would have to be done multiple times for all the various SIMs.  As far as I know, there are no "easy" or fast solutions for creating in-game panels for any of the SIMs.  If someone knows of a good toolset, please let me know.

At least for MSFS, the VR (and non-VR) toolbar is a simple HTML widget.

Here is a basic template to create one: https://github.com/bymaximus/msfs2020-toolbar-window-template

My pleasure!

I think it would make a lot of people happy to have even just the necessary in-flight functions within that VR panel.

Alternatively, if there would be an (REST/Websocket)-API for Pilot2ATC, people could develop their own panels...

The Sky4Sim MSFS addon now displays Pilot2ATC ATC dialogue on its tablet in VR!  Works really well for displaying the ATC messages, but you can also select the option to display suggested responses, and your own responses.

There are some really cool features of the P2ATC app, such as the map, taxi/parking views, etc. Sky4Sim doesn't replace that. Yes, sky4sim is great for the conversation text - but all the other features are missing. (don't misunderstand me, I think sky4sim is great as well - it's just not a substituate for the p2atc app).

One solution could be that Pilot2Atc embeds a Web server, so someone else could develop the ingame panel, taking information as a Web client.

A similar example is Little Nav Map which is a desktop app, associated with this great freeware VR panel :
