Default AI Traffic

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm not sure what to make of this issue. I use AI traffic from Alpha India Group. While a bit confusing for me I have everything I want installed and it works fine in P3D V5.3. At some point AI Manager has asked if I wish to deactivate the default traffic .bgl present in Scenery/world/scenery folder and I have done so. For the most part it has disappeared but lately I have noticed that at some airports - mostly of the add-on variety some of the default traffic is once again showing up. I can find no other file where it might be still present. The traffic.bgl shows that it is still disabled and the AIG AI traffic shows up along side the default AI. I'm not sure if this is a problem at only a few airports or if it is universal throughout my system. I also us some MAIW and some AI from AI Airport enhancer and these seem to function normally. Advice appreciated.

Thanks

Warren

It could be the add-ons airports have it's own AI traffic using default aircraft, quite common practice back in days.

I'd check if there are any configuration options for the specific airports or consult the developer's forum for methods to disable the traffic. Any particular airport you find this?

Hi again all

So far I find this at MUHA which is Mexican High Flight addon, MUCL which is a freeware addon, compatible with V5 apparently and MUVR which is and ORBX addon - may be others that I have yet to find. I will check these folders.

Thanks

Warren

I have MUHA and use Ultimate Traffic. No default AI there. Sounds like an AIG issue.

I have many, many AIG flight plans and have never had an issue with them. But, then again I do not use AIG Manager, preferring to install my flight plans "manually" with AIFP.

Edit: the first thing I do after installing P3D is remove the default AI traffic....

Hi again

I have looked everywhere I can think of but can't find anything related to the default AI which is not disabled. I thought that perhaps the designer of MUHA had used default AI aircraft as "staticdisplay only" for the scenery package but on further investigation these aircraft are active and depart and arrive at MUHA regularly. I'm starting to wonder if somehow the default traffic .bgl is still active. I'm tempted to remove it from the world/scenery folder to my backup P3D V5 folder but that sounds a bit radical at this stage. I'll keep working.

Thanks so far.

Warren

If that default traffic file is still in \Scenery\World\Scenery and not renamed, then it is still active.

Hi

It is in the correct scenery/world/scenery folder and it is renamed, originally by the AIG program and then by me - mostly to see if there was something in suffix which kept the folder somehow active. No joy on either. I renamed the folder to "trafficAircraft.bgloff and it made no difference to the AI present at these airports. I have renamed this folder in earlier iterations of P3D but so far it seems not to have had the intended effect.

What version of P3d are you using?

There's an easy way to check as the most recent V5 updates includes Traffic Tools from the SDK which used to have to be enabled, but now is automatically turned on.

Goto Tools, Development, Traffic Toolbox, and select Explorer. From the Explorer along the top tabs that have CID, Tail # etc, right click and check File Path which will now show the exact path that each AI is coming from. Voila!

Thanks

Something else to try. So far I moved the existing trafficAircraft.bgl to my backup folder and restarted the simulator - the default AI aircraft are still present. Ive also search my OS and nothing shows as present. In any case I'll keep lookingt.

Thanks

:Latest version of Prepar3D

Hi again all.

I tried as suggested with the traffic tool box but what I see does not  allow me to view the complete file string but what I read seems to suggest the AI are coming from scenery/world/scenery which also suggests that the default traffic .bgl is somehow still functional even though it has been renamed.

I'll keep looking.

I think I found my problem - mostly finger trouble on my part. A while back I used AirportAI Enhancer to create some AI movements around a couple of airports not covered by AIG. In doing so I inadvertently used some of the default models recognized by the AI Enhancer. Now I know where these aircraft originate and I can corrects as needed.

Thanks for all the help
