September 2, 20223 yr Hi guys, I am thinking about upgrading my system and I could use some advice. My current system is a 6600K oc@3,9GHz, RTX 1070 and 32GB ram. I am mainly flying P3DV4 but wouldn't mind either switching to P3DV5 or MSFS, although I would be happy staying on P3DV5 with better frames and better graphics. As I am working from home, I have a 49' screen with a restitution 5120 * 1440. When I recently took the FLS Labs out for a spin, I had an average of 15 fps at Aerosoft's Frankfurt with Active Sky and AIG traffic running in the back. I am mainly looking for a better GPU but would also look into adding a new CPU, if you think this might also help. I would like to spend less and 1.000 Euro. Would you have any recommendations? Any other software or games I am running does not factor in for my decision. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thank you😀
September 8, 20223 yr Something like this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rZjxGL but reuse your existing graphics card for now until the RTX 4000 series is out. That brings you into a budget of around €1400. If you want to future proof for further upgrades you'll want to go for a DDR5 motherboard and RAM, but at this time it's a lot more expensive and doesn't perform any better. I've been meaning to upgrade for years but never got around to it. Had a good setup with P3D and have been wanting to move over to MSFS but wanted to wait a bit for the bugs to get worked out and more developers to come out with their stuff especially aircraft. Done some reading lately and it seems like things are pretty stable now and more products are coming out. 5800x3d Asus 4090 ROG Strix OC 2TB SSD 32GB Ram
September 12, 20223 yr Prices for DDR5 are dropping. And it isn't true that DDR5 doesn't perform better than DDR4 -- see https://www.techreviewer.com/tech-answers/ddr4-vs-ddr5/ for example. You got your PMDG, Fenix A320, Milviz C310, FSW C414, SWS Kodiak and rv14, plus your GTN mods like the TDS GTN Xi and PMS GTN. A company called Working Title (who is now contracted by Microsoft) is totally upgrading default G1000, G3000 and GNS units for free). Plus a billion airport addons hehe. But yes I'd wait on a video card and maybe an entire system build for the new AMD series 7 X3D CPU. Right now the 5800X3D is dominating MSFS even far better than the 12900K. I just did a Z690 ddr5 build with the 12700K in Feb and I'm a little sad with CPU envy lol. 12700k is a quality cpu too though! I got mine at microcenter for about 350 usd. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 17, 20223 yr With respect to the Garmin nav units in MSFS; is the nav data able to be updated, via the likes of Navigraph, or is it still kneecapped with an ancient Garmin trainer airac cycle that the 3rd party add ons are limited to ?
