September 10, 20223 yr I’m curious to see if anyone has seen this at all, every once in a while I get some screen tearing, it’s always at the top of the monitor, maybe about 4 inches from the top and appears when I pan around, it’s like a strip of multiple cubes across the monitor horizontally (from one end to the other) is best I can describe it, and the strip is about 2 inches wide vertically. What’s odd is that sometimes it doesn’t appear for a whole sim session, and sometimes it does, and if it appears it’s there for the whole flight. It’s probably like 50/50 on when it shows it’s ugly face. Curious if anyones had this issue happen? And if not wonder if there are any opinions on what could cause this. as a side note, when it does appear I can still fly the flight as it’s at the top of the screen, but just looking to diagnose the possible issue. September 10, 20223 yr I have to use Vsync or I will have bad tearing all the time so maybe try that. I use the in-sim Vsync with 1/2 refresh rate (my monitor is 60hz). Frames locked at 30. September 10, 20223 yr I tried several monitors with Freesync and it doesn't work good enough to turn off the internal V-sync settings, so yah, not much choice but to use it. You want to lock your frames anyhow, I have mine locked at 60, though 30 is fine too. AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
September 10, 20223 yr I had this trying to use freesync too and found it better to use a refresh rate of 60 mhz and limit frames to 30 fps with v sync switched on. Your symptoms may also be due to a bad graphics driver, so I would suggest updating it or rolling back to one you know worked for you previously. September 10, 20223 yr Author Thanks all, I will start with updating driver, I was on 471.41 so it may be that, I will also look into this freesync thing… not even sure what free sync is but I’ll google it. Edit: just googled freesync and it looks to be an amd thing, so it wouldn’t affect me. September 10, 20223 yr Not seen that. Using the fast v-sync option in NCP. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
September 11, 20223 yr Author After updating my driver, I’ve tried it a few times and there was no screen tearing like I was having, I can’t say for sure it’s gone completely yet but I’ll see within the next few flights. Yes, I had this for a long time where the top of the screen gets pixelated. It is an Nvidia driver issue. See this post: Edited September 12, 20223 yr by JJ_
