TreeX v2.1

Featured Replies

What exactly does treex v2.1 do? Before installing anything i like to know what exactly it's going to do that way I'll know what to back up....

From the readme.txt in the download it replaces the current tree textures in FSX with more photo-realistic tree images.I downloaded it last night but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Good news it it automatically backs up the files it replaces so no need to back up anything. Very easy interface and quick too, no problems at all reinstalling the default textures.Ian.

cool, where does it back up the originals to? If i were to choose to uninstall TreeX will it automatically put the original textures back in?Any FPS hit with TreeX?

You have to use this via an interface or does it run on its own after installation?

It uses a interface which allows for different textures for performance such as high performance or quality etc... and different tree types. It also has a button to re-install the default textures from the backup folder, not sure where it keeps them as haven't really needed to touch it. The interface is very simple, click a button and you are done.Give it a go, as far as I know there are no ill effects from its use.Ian.

Off the cuff, I thought it put the backup in a TreeX backup folder near the bottom of the FSX install folder. I just rebuilt my FSX machine and haven't reinstalled TreeX yet, so I hope I'm remembering this correctly.

It places the backup in the root of FSX and is named TreeX_Original_Tex.zip. I've ever uninstalled it but you could just unzip the backup to your texture folder.Regards,Jim KarnNOTHING is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

I have it running and it looks very nice. Hard to say about the FPS hit, but to be honest, I'd be happy to move another slider a bit to the left to keep these trees maxed out.
