shouldn't FSX technically run better then FS9 on dual cores?

Featured Replies

think about it...FS9 only uses one core (if you look at your cpu load, you will see FS9 is only 50% cpu load)so if FSX takes 100% load, shouldn't it run better?food for thought :(

Well seeing as FSX makes an awful lot more demands on a system I don't see why is should run better than FS9.

because you are using double the resourceeven though X demands more, it has more to demand fromya know what I mean?

FSX demands >10x system resources as compared to FS9, and the CPUs are certainly not 10X.

really? 10 times more resources than FS9? wow.

Thanks for the ratio Phil. Certainly is implied by performance. With the latest hardware (well, almost latest anyway), I have more trouble believing how well FS9 performs than how limited FSX is. The comparison sure fits your aprox. ratio.Respectfully:RTH

this is an average, if we really wanted to drill in, we'd have to consider textures, mesh, AI, etc.just to drill in a little:1)we went from 5m to 1m textures, which is something like 16x the number of pixels in the textures2)we went from mesh resolution on the order of 1km to 38m in many places, although some places stayed the same. 3)the road traffic means the AI load is about 4x, 4)media delivered is on the order of 4.5x larger even in compressed format.5)autogen densities are much higher.so 1 order of magnitude more "stuff", 10x as an average, is a good rough rule of thumb when comparing FS9 to FSX.

Thanks for that phil.SO i need to roughly run 300fps on FS9 to run 30fps on FSX :)that was a joke btw :)I bought FSX today, and my computer is not reading the DVDs :( the laptop reads them, but not the desktop
