October 7, 20223 yr The advice in the thread is about as good as it gets at the moment. I have this fix applied by the way. However MS keep updating or altering the Windows sound management to cater for Video conferencing and calling (Zoom etc with automatic muting and volume changes) Lets think of it as multi-channel input control from various Apps or Programs running simultaneously all with inputs and outputs via the sound management system. September was the latest lot of updates. FWIW SKype no longer works or the controls for the headset no longer function properly either. I was using a quality Blue Tooth Headset but now get variable sound levels in the VC and outside dependant on what is the sound output (Voice -ATC, engines or environment) now the environment sounds continue to be played in a muted form via the speakers while engine and voice in the headset. I am getting weird interruptions which it seems to me I may be wrong but P3D is doing what it should but the windows controls are interpreting this as an interruption and in need of muting or stopping! I also suffer from balance issues with the various sound categories - engine, voice, environment etc. I have searched the web for hours to see if there is a solution to this not many that are helpful, it seems it afflicts non simmers as well. Maybe somebody will come up with an answer but I am sure it is not a P3D issue but a sound management in Windows problem. All this to fix a non existent problem that is users of conferencing and video call apps that are too careless or stupid to mute stuff when in a zoom type meeting. October 29, 20223 yr I stumbled across a sound fix, so I thought I'd share it just in case it helps. I've had a pause from P3D v4.5 for a couple of months, and did also have some sound issues after updating Windows 10. I also had sound issues before updating Windows, but solved it back then in Windows sound setting for the phone auto muting with ticking the box "Don't do anyting". After updating Windows, the sound issue was like this: I had background music on with VLC mp3 player. Then I started P3D v4.5 with the default Robinson R22. When ATC started chatting with an AI aircraft, all of a sudden my music was muted fully, and the engine sound was muted half way down. So I guess that Windows mistakenly thought that somebody was calling me on the computer when ATC was talking and muted the sounds. To solve this, I entered "msconfig" (or "System Configuration") in the windows searchbox, and started System Configuration. Under Services, I unticked both "Fax" and "Telephony", then I clicked OK and restarted the computer. After starting P3D with the Robinson R22 again, this time the sound did not mute when ATC was talking.
