October 23, 20223 yr A few interesting a/c thanks to the freeware contributors...Enjoy...! Pictures shown are in the order of the listing below: [777-300ER] Here is a picture of UAL 777-300ER. I have travelled many times on the United 777s. I noted today that UAL has both 777-200 and 777-300ER variants in their fleet for a total count of 96 777s. You may notice the Star Alliance logo on the front fuselage, here. This 777-300ER is equipped with GE engines. [737 MAX 200] To accommodate the higher number of passengers flying onboard the 737 MAX, Boeing designed the MAX 200 specially for Ryanair. In addition to the four main doors and four over-wing exits currently found on the Ryanair 737-800 (or on the standard 737 MAX 8), an additional exit door is placed on each side of the fuselage behind the wing. You can spot this extra door on the Fictional (Orbit Airlines) 737 MAX 200 screenshot below. Compared to the standard 737 MAX 8 of Alaska Airlines, the extra exit door can be seen behind the wing to the right of the Reg. marking (N200OM). This high-density version of the 737 MAX 8, named the 737 MAX 200, has seating for up to 200 passengers vs. 189 for standard MAX 8, in a single-class high-density configuration with "slimline" seats. [Note: Some airlines are introducing new "slimline" seats in the economy class. While "slimline" is not a defined term, slimline seats have less padding in the back. Seat pitch and width in economy class are also smaller... (as if the plight of us in the Sardine class was not bad enough already...🙂...) ...Slimline seats weigh less than full-size seats and are claimed to allow airlines to increase capacity without significantly affecting passenger comfort. Not surprisingly, though, many passengers have expressed displeasure with these seats...] [CV-580] With the success of its piston powered CV-240/340/440 series of twins (intended as replacements for the ubiquitous DC-3), Convair recognized early that the turboprop engines offered some clear advantages over the Piston engines. Instead of building a new plane, Convair decided that those very Convair-Liners could be re-engined instead, such as with installation of Alison 501-D series engines. Thus came CV-580...These same powerful Alison engines also powered the likes of the legendary C-130 Hercules. Alison is currently owned by Rolls-Royce. [Ilyushin Il-96] Quad-jet Ilyushin Il-96 is/was interesting a/c, dimensionally (and capacity-wise) rather similar to a Boeing 767-300, and what the 767-300 might look like if it had 4 engines...🙂...On 3 January 2006, the first official flight of the Cubana Il-96-300, occurred from Havana to Buenos Aires, Argentina. [DC-7C] This is a KLM 1959 Douglas DC-7C (Seven Seas) in the 40th Anniversary Livery. DC-7C was the last major piston engine-powered transport made by Douglas, been developed, at the wrong time, shortly after the earliest jet airliner, the de Havilland Comet entered service and only a few years before Douglas introduced its own jet-powered DC-8 in 1958. [B777-10] The Boeing 777X is the latest series of the long-range, wide-body, twin-engine jetliners in the Boeing 777 family (variants: -8/-9/-10). This stretched version of the 777-9 is targeted e.g., at Emirates, the largest operator of the Boeing 777 planes.
