Taxiway Bleed through at some airports

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have been on FS9 for years. Last year I was lucky enough to be able to spend £900 on a brand new pc last year. I installed my old FS9 again.

As you may guess, I've spent hundreds of pounds over the years on addon airports etc.

The problem I'm facing atm with my new pc since last year is some texture bleed through at some airports. My addons include Aerosoft (no problems), UK2000 Scenery (No Problems), Imaginesim (Problems with 2 airports), FSDreamteam (Problems with 1 airport), Taxi2Gate (problem with one airport)

As you can see I have addons from different developers, some have no problems whatsoever with some while others do have a texture bleed through problem without me changing my graphics card settings.

I cannot figure out why some airports have a problem and most don't given that I havent changed a thing. I am a seasoned simmer so I have played around with afcads and elevation issues  etc.

Can anyone explain why most work fine but some do have a texture bleed through problem? I do not have any 3rd party global mesh addons installed

Kind regards

Gavin Moss

A couple of screenshots of exactly what you term as "bleed through" might help.

Not sure you can, directly … probably have to upload the pix to a file sharing site and then use the "Insert image from URL" tool in the bottom right-hand corner of the reply window.

This kind of problem is almost allways caused by very slight elevation undulations in the addon scenery as opposed to the underlying default scenery. A flatten BGL at the default elevation and for the whole addon airport area, will normally fix this.

Hi Hans,

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure how to do a flatten bgl. I have AFX and ADE but use AFX mostly for FS9.

Are they basic steps to do a flatten bgl?

Thanks

Easiest way is probably to create a polygon in ADE, which in FS9 mode will default to a flatten polygon.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I tried that last night but I've always had problems when I try and compile the AFCAD for any airport in ADE

Hi,

I figured out the compile problem with ADE, I had to install MSXML 4 and now it works.

Thanks

Hi,

Tried the flatten and hasn't worked.

This is what does word not allowed me off with some FS scenery developers (they don't test there software properly sometimes), could be any number of reasons. I've reset my scenery.cfg layers using the scenery configurator and wasted two days already just testing!!!

Last time this happened I had to completey reinstall Windows 10 and everything I had which took me a week to get everything back to normal, all because of one problem, not a happy man right now.

Thanks for you guys that have tried to help with suggestions

You probably know this, but just to make sure, by default, ADE compiles the AFCAD files into its own FS9\Projects folder unless you selected the path to FS9.  Be sure to remove the old AFCAD file after creating the new one, and secondly, the flatten ADE file (ending with ADE_TER.bgl) is best placed in the FS9/scenery/world/scenery folder.

Hi

Yes I have done both of these. I'm properly annoyed. T2G I have bought 2 airports from Mexico (the problem I'm having with) and Hamad (had the same texture problems with that airport too)

But its not just T2G, I have got problems with some other addons. Something has gone wrong somewhere in my sim and when you can't find it out, there is no option but to completely reinstall my whole windows 10 install and all my FS9 stuff, it will take me over a week to do. It has really  put me off buying from some developers, companies of which we pay good money to over the years.

I have no choice but to do all this over the next week, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, changed elevation, done flattens and done at least 10 test flights to the airport over the last few days with no success!!!

Thanks
