I can't customize the weather or time now.

Recommended Posts

For some reason, I can't customize the weather or time now. I know this occurs when you enable the option for multiplayer -- and that's exactly what I did. But when I de-selected the option for multiplayer, the sim still won't let me choose custom weather or time of day. I've rebooted my computer several times and the multiplayer is shown to be OFF. I know that many people, including me, have been suffering connectivity issues today. But the irony here is that I can get LIVE weather fine now. But I can't choose my own weather or time -- just like multiplayer is still enabled. Can someone help me! Thank you.

Do you have the online functionality turned on in the data menu?

Are you loading a saved flight/plan?

I always keep it on. But I've toggled it several times to see if that makes a difference. But I still can't customize the weather.

No. I'm just trying to takeoff from a variety of airports. Ironically, the LIVE weather is working fine for me. The live time and live weather are working perfectly. But I'm stuck with them. I can't change the weather or time at all. My customization menu is visible but grayed out. I know this happens in Multiplayer, but I'm not using Multiplayer.

Is there a configuration file entry for Multiplayer? I assume there is, but where is it? This all started when I turned Multiplayer on a couple of hours ago. Now the sim is behaving exactly like Multiplayer is still ON, but it's definitely OFF.

Perhaps there’s one in usercfg.opt? Just make sure you’ve got custom settings in the sim, or the changes won’t stick.

I cannot select live weather at this time. It just switches back to clear skies....will investigate. Worked ok yesterday after quick test flight after update.

Recommend standing down, so to speak.  Seems to be a widespread issue, here as well.  Why chase your tail.  I flew successfully today from Bloomington, Indiana, to Greensboro, NC, with weather from REX WF.  The MSFS glitch will get fixed,  Did not see or hear of it yesterday immediatly after SU11, so it is likely an outage of sorts.

I found my Online Functionality was off.  Changed it to On and that fixed this for me.  Did so after reading of it in another topic here.

I had this during a flight yesterday, too. I went into the (triangle) flight menu to adjust weather, but neither could I change the weather (e.g. from real-time to a theme) nor even the time.

This might be a new issue. I never observed this during SU11. BTW, this was under 2D.

No multiplayer, I never use this. Plus, my connection seemed to be stable, as far as I can tell.

Kind regards, Michael

A user named DementedCorn327 posted the solution on the official forum:

"Ok, I have been able to reproduce the issue and the way to fix it is always having “Multiplayer” set to “ON” in the General Options/Data and then in the Flight Conditions manually set Multiplayer to “Off” or “All Players”. Hope it will work for you. But yes I agree that there is an issue if “Multiplayer” is set to “OFF” in the General Options/Data, Preset/Custom options should not be greyed out."

This worked perfectly for me. And I did have online functionality already ON.

That's right. If you have it set to "Live players" you can't customize weather, but since you said you had multiplayer OFF I thought you already had it set to OFF (Group only). In that case it should work. Glad you fixed it. 👍

Thanks Dave, will try this. Why do we always have these kind of nasty regressions...? Even more, as we had a 4 weeks beta period in advance.

Kind regards, Michael
