Yes (never paid attention before!) but it seems to be an old file.

I use GSX and as far as I can see there is no entry in exe.xml.
I believe the Couatl engine does the job on its own.

No, thta is no a correct file. This looks like a copy&paste error (=using the wrong XML file as baseline). SimConnect has no business being in here.

This is a proper exe.xml: (the "Couatl" thing is the GSX entry)

That's how GSX makes the exe.xml if there isn't one already. Apparently based on this from Asobo: https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/questions/2191/starting-external-programs-without-using-the-exexm.html?childToView=6873#comment-6873

That's as may be. It is still the wrong file format...look at the Filename tag. It may work by accident, but that is not how it is supposed to be. IMHO of course.

Just take care that the XML header matches the actual encoding of the file. Mine is UTF-8, but if you are using a standard-ASCII file, it is Windows-1252

Well, that's indeed weird.
I did a complete reinstall after being stuck with SP11 update and this is exactly how my exe file looks like.

No Couatl nor Fenix entries, and both are working flawlessly.
