VR and VATSIM - whats needed?

Featured Replies

Hey gents,

Now that the sim is all up and running, im looking to start with Vatsim again in VR...had planty of time in flat-screen...

Ive just got the Navigraph subscription and that's just great! Integration with Fenix is seamless...

Any suggestions as to what i would need for online flying (Have VPilot installed already) ..

Im thinking i may need to start up in 2D mode to get clearances etc and then when ready for takeoff going into VR..but would take away form the whole immersion...

Hoe to write stuff down with goggles on!

Cheers

You can bring Vpilot in as window in VR and assign all buttons you need to something easily reachable without looking, but taking notes is difficult. I'm not aware of any app that facilitates that.

I suppose if you plan your flight well, the readback and other instructions will be what you expect them to be so maybe you can just remember it without notes?

Depends on what head set you have. In oculus you can do it natively in the home software by pinning an open application. It will then appear in VR with you. I don't know how this works for other headsets, though.

Installed and tried it!

Excellent program!

Also discovered that when getting taxi routes i can use the marker on the EFB to write them down (Fenix) and delete them when used!

Thanks folks!

I use Quest 2 via Link Cable. I never knew this was possible.

how exactly does this work ? Should I open a window in Oculus Home and then click on the pin icon or something like that?

Assuming it works the same as with the Rift S, that's exactly how you do it. To the right in the navigation bar there's a plus sign. Click it and add whatever program you like. (It has to be open to appear in the list). In the new window that pops up, click the pin symbol to the lower right. Resize it and move it where you want it. Close Oculus home. The window should now be with you in VR.

How do you guys speak?  Is there a mic on the G2?  I used to use Track IR (well still do) and I've got a headset with a mic boom on it.

Notice two little holes on either side of the bottom surface? I believe they serve the mic.
