This is making me nuts

Featured Replies

Ok so I mentioned this problem in the past here and was never able to resolve it, but the other day while watching a YT video, I noticed others don't have this issue.  I appeared before SU11 and did not go away, it's here both with the latest beta or without. It doesn't go away with the google map enhancement or not.  I've tried all settings and nothing works.  So, while using the world map, zooming in on an airport, (standard, 3rd party or premium) it shows runways and surrounding terrain, also parking lots, but no taxiways nor terminal buildings. I would rather not reinstall MSFS.  I have the steam version and have verified the local files.  I also noted that when I start up, it keeps reverting to the windowed mode.  I change it to full screen, keep the changes and apply and save, but next start up, back to windowed mode.  Otherwise it's been running pretty smooth and reliably.

are you sure that is not a military airport blurred by Bing for that reason? Or is this happening to all ?

Given that settings are not being saved between sessions, it could be a permissions issue on the folders on the drive.

Nope, not a military airport, KRFD, my hometown airport, besides it does this to all airports.  I will look into the permissions thing, but I'm not sure I know what I'm looking for.

Whenever I have decided to re-install my Steam version of MSFS (which I've done twice since it came out) I "verify files" which erases it. It's hard for me to understand how you can "verify files" of your Steam version of MSFS and nothing changes.

I went back and found the UserCfg.opt file, changed "Windowed" from 1 to 0, fixed that problem.  I think if I knew where the files are stored that it uses to provide the map in the world map UI, I might be on to something.

Might want to check that in General Options -> Data, the data options are turned on...

What is making me nuts is people that waste other helpful people's time by using inexpressive topic titles.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Sorry I wasted the precious time you used with your "helpful" comments about inexpressive topic titles.

Jim, Thanks I did check the data settings, all online components are on.
