Is there a way to control road width in X-Plane 12?

Featured Replies

Anyone know if there is some type of file where I can control the width, etc. of roads in X-Plane 12.  I really think the visuals look totally awesome, with the exceptions of the roads … and to a lesser degree the clouds.

There's "Resources/default scenery/1000 roads/roads.net" and "Resources/default scenery/1000 roads/roads_EU.net".

File format specification: https://developer.x-plane.com/article/vector-network-net-file-format-specification/

If it can't be done in those files, it can't be done at all.

If you use ortho then use X-Roads - it removes the AI generated roads, leaving you with the roads as they look IRL.

Short answer, no not easily

You'd have to edit the roads.net file, adjust all the attached 3d objects etc, adjust the position the cars drive on the roads etc, a pretty monumental task

I do appreciate you taking time to reply.  Looks like more effort than it is worth.  Too bad that the software doesn't give more control over these types of matters.

Hi,

I added parked cars to my roadways by painting them onto the streets. Not sure if this is possible, but can you edit these same DDS files to make the  roadways smaller?  A view of my parked cars edit shown below.
