At iniBuilds EGLL with FSLTL traffic I get 50-70fps on short final and on the ground in PMDG/Fenix. TAA/DLSS = not a big difference.

Usercfg.opt = I have some custom settings e.g. shadow maps higher than ultra.

Hi cpt, thanks for the reply! Well then you still get more than excellent fps for those conditions!! I for sure in the beginning I will start with having everything msfs by default setting everything to ultra, in 4k and tlod as high as possible, only with 737pmdg and no pay scenario and no traffic, just live weather. I believe that in these conditions I will have even more fps and I can push myself to higher tlod I think. One question, is there a guide on what and how to modify the cfg file to make some details higher than ultra?? Thanks again and I wish you and all a merry and peaceful Christmas!

I just set shadows size to 6144. It’s also possible to set TLOD higher than 400 (I’ve had it as high as 600 flying GA over remote locations). The file is located here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Bit of a bump to the thread, but I've just finished some tests with the Inibuilds A310 in VR (using a HP Reverb G2) after upgrading my Ryzen 7 5800X to the new Ryzen 7 7700x (which needed also a motherboard upgrade).  Rest of my specs are in my signature below.

So far, I have been able to raise the Terrain LOD from 170 to 300 and the Objects LOD from 140 to 200.  This has just passed a test with Live Traffic (FSLTS) and Live weather at two of the busiest airports in the UK and including a low flight over central London.

There's more detail in a thread in the MSFS VR section.

Later this week, I will see how it fares with going to max LOD in my more usual, and less taxing, airports and terrain.

Yes, I find 6144 on shadows is about the optimum running at 4k.  Nice and sharp in the cockpit rather than those feather edges.  Strangely enough, 8192 is possible, but actually looks too sharp - unnaturally sharp, so 6144 it is for me.

I just checked my LOD settings in the user config file.  I spent some time tweaking a while ago, but not too much time!    250 for terrain {Terrain LoDFactor 2.500000} , and 350 for objects.  No complaints about visuals, and no performance issues.
The main thing I wanted to fix was the runway signs (yellow) popping up in front of my eyes as I land - a pet annoyance of mine and immersion breaking, but none of the LOD settings seem to affect this unfortunately.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
