Bitterwasser Lodge to Xakanaxa airport, Okavango Delta

Featured Replies

Bitterwasser Lodge & Flying Center is a guest lodge and (gliding) airfield on the edge of the Kalahari region, about 170 kilometers south-southeast of Windhoek (Namibia). The airfield and gliding center are considered one of the best in the world for glider pilots. Numerous world records have been set here due to the good thermal conditions.

I have been to both Namibia and the Kalahari and I was always amazed by the change of the landscape below you, when flying in this fantastic part of the world. The best part is, the same experience we can get in MSFS!

Accommodation is a bit basic, to say the least

And the “runway” is shake, rattle and roll. I think I need to visit a dentist after this

Above the Okawango area, which looks from above sooo different from the Namibian desert, even in dry season

Super-enjoyable glimpse of Namibia. A more unique landscape than I would ever have imagined.

Great shots! 😉

Great pictures!

Interesting.  I'll have to check that area out.  I don't fly outside USA much.

Wonderful post, bernd, supplemented by tidbits of first-hand experience...!!

Like the realism of "shake and rattle"...during your takeoff roll... (although, agree, a wellness visit to the Dentist is best advised after this...🙂...) ...Looks like for TD, however, you found a nice and smooth Rwy...
