More questions,,, 😛

When doing circuits, what is the correct distance to the field when on downwind, how much head room do I have, does it have to be a exact distance everytime or can I change it? Do different airport have different standards?

😕🙂😕Good luck! and please report back any success!!!

Ok, here is my report:p

Logged on this evening at ENBR. Asked for a radio check with tower and had filed a circuit plan. He handed me over too deliverance, but I forgot to give him reply that i change frequency(first mistake, no? ). Called deliverance and asked for taxi clearance with information sierra(got that one right:p).

Then it all turned too sh.... when he read my clearance. My brain totally shut off, forgot what he said, so I asked him to repeat, wrote it down, but didnt understand what too do next anymore. Started sweathing, could not just wrap my head around it. I freaked out :D, and just shut down the whole sim.

So too whoever controlled Flesland this evening Im really sorry..... I will be better next time, I hope.....

Keep trying ! You'll get the hang of it 🙂

Watch youtubes too - they help.

Kaboki- go through pilot edge CAT ratings series. They have YouTube videos on each rating 1 to 10, 1 being simplest ATC interaction and 10 being complex class bravo airspace.

their website also has the script that you were asking for each of those CAT ratings.

you don’t need to pay anything to go thru their CAT rating videos or website script. But they are massively helpful when it comes to radio comms.

When clearance gave you all that info you got  overwhelmed. But if you used CRAFT acronym it will make things simpler to digest all the info they gave you. PilotEdge talks about it.

ATP,CFI,CFII,AGI Here.... VATSIM gave me the courage for day one of talking in the real world when I first started as a student pilot. Simply think of it in this order:

Who You're Talking To

Who You Are

Where You Are

What You Want....

THEN

What You Were Told

Who You Are

"Ft. Lauderdale Ground

Skyhawk 241 Alpha Bravo

Blue Sky FBO

Ready to Taxi for Pattern work with Information (ATIS) Bravo"

They'll come back with:

Skyhawk 241 Alpha Bravo taxi to runway 28R via Alpha Bravo, Charlie.

Now you're...

Runway 28R via Alpha Bravo and Charlie

Skyhawk 241 Alpha Bravo.

Who You're Talking To

Who You Are

Where You Are

What You Want....

THEN

What You Were Told

Who You Are

Take your time, don't overthink it. Every pilot has their first day and so does a controller....

That'll work in the US. Europe, Caribbean and other nations will all follow the same format but might have different vocabulary (gate vs. stand etc)

Maybe just start smaller. Omit the flight plan and just request touch and go's or full stop, taxi backs. Practice flying the pattern while being in communication with ATC. Then branch out and fly further afield and request a flight following (if in the US) or a flight information service in the UK.

Baby steps, was exactly was I was trying too do:p.

Next time I have to get that fskneebord thing, so its easier in vr.

For me this experience was like my own personal moon landing, and my first attemt failed😂.
