February 17, 20233 yr Is anyone else finding that anything that requires a server connection tonight either isn't working or is incredibly slow? Right from the start, the checking for updates page sits there for quite a while, usually that's near instantaneous. Then once in the sim I keep getting disconnected from online/bing mode, when I try to reconnect it takes like 10 minutes, failing part way through (the annoyingly making me continue to wait). ATC comms were very delayed which I've never seen before, ie a long gap between transmissions before the audio finally just stopped working. Then I tried to download the update for the Honda Jet and the download speed was glacially slow to the point it would have been days to download it. The other night I was flying around Montreal and the photogrammetry was so bad buildings looked like triangles before I finally got booted from Photogrammetry for low bandwidth. It seems like a lot of this has started since they had the recent weather server issue. My internet connection is otherwise fine for streaming 4K video etc so I don't think this is on my end. February 17, 20233 yr I have no problems loading MSFS, but as of this morning, it will not connect to the data server (US northeast). My internet connection is fine. Not sure what the problem is -- local server issue? Edited February 17, 20233 yr by cobalt
February 17, 20233 yr Author I tried firing it up this morning and all was fine…we’ll see tonight during North American prime time how it’s working. I feel like at the busiest times the servers are overloaded or maybe even it’s my ISP throttling bandwidth? The I turner speed test sites shown ~300 mbps but I know those sites can paint a bit of a rosy picture…is there way to get a sense of true bandwidth? February 18, 20233 yr It turns out that the culprit was not the server, it was the MSFS 2020 Map Enhancement add-on. I had been using it with no problems, so I am not sure why it suddenly became an issue. But following a Zendesk suggestion, I uninstalled it, the "low-bandwidth" problem disappeared, and the sim is operating normally. It seems that Map Enhancement modifies the host file and this can cause trouble. The question is, why did it suddenly do this after weeks of no problems? Another mystery. February 18, 20233 yr Author In the email support sent me back they mentioned this addon but I do not use it. February 18, 20233 yr I reinstalled some MSFS world updates last night, and it took me forever. Files that should have easily downloaded in ten minutes took several hours to complete. February 18, 20233 yr Seems like the disconnection issue is random for me. Sometimes I fire up the sim with no issues and other times it takes a while to get past the checking updates phase. At times I also get server disconnection issues during flight. I hope Microsoft/Asobo sort this out as as the sim was fine during the holidays. This all started after the AAU1 update.
February 18, 20233 yr Author Thanks for the input, sounds more and more like a Microsoft issue so I’ll put off calling up my ISP to give them grief for now 🙂 Dave Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU

Problems, pretty much non existent. I had about 2 three second disconnects, since using it, same as before. Very infrequent, and quickly connect again. Edited July 23, 20232 yr by Bobsk8
